Hello and welcome to the SC2Improve Winter League 2012! We have just come off the end of the hugely successful SC2Improve Summer League where we saw over 60 players competing over four months over the Summer for a prize pool of £32 with it all culminating in a BO7 where Mix came through 4-1 over Gyaru.

If you want to learn more about SC2Improve and who we are you can visit our Team Liquid Thread here.

The Winter League is designed to be bigger and better! The format will be different, the prize pool will be larger and it’s going to be even more awesome to get involved with! Promising to provide over two months of exciting content the Winter League aims to give both skilled individuals and dedicated players the chance to qualify into the RO16 through numerous qualifiers.

To see all updated information for the Winter League please visit our Liquipedia Page for the event.

How to Qualify

+ Show Spoiler +
We plan to hold 5 qualifiers which will allow 12 players to qualify. This gives players two potential ways to qualify -

Winning a qualifier grants you a direct seed into the RO16, no questions asked.
The better you place in each qualifier the more points you earn - at the end of the 5 qualifiers the 7 players with the most points will be granted qualification to the RO16

Point System

Points will be awarded as follows:

2nd - 50 points
3rd/4th - 30 points
RO8 - 20 points
RO16 - 10 points
RO32 - 5 points
RO64 - 3 points
Below RO64 - 1 point

Eligibility to Enter

+ Show Spoiler +
All leagues and all players are able to enter as long as they can play on the EU BNet server. If players have major scheduling issues with the RO16 section of the tournament their place will be offered to a different player. Wardí reserves the right to deny participation to any player if it is deemed necessary.

Tournament Format

+ Show Spoiler +
After the qualifiers we will have 16 players entering into the RO16. Each group will have a seeded player from the Summer League. They will take turns (based on their seeding) to pick the players which will be in their group.

The RO16 will be GSL style groups - 5 BO3s of Winner vs Winner, Loser vs Loser and then Winner vs Winner. This is to minimize amount of games to be played and make organizing casting etc easier.

Top two of each group advance into the single elimination bracket at the RO8 stage at which point it will be 1st Place vs 2nd Place from the groups for all quarter finals. RO8 and RO4 will be BO5. The grand finals will be BO7.

Prizes

+ Show Spoiler +

The prize pool for this tournament is as follows

Qualifiers :

1st Place - £4
2nd Place - POINTS!

Actual Event :

1st Place - £25
2nd Place - £10
3rd / 4th Place - £6
5th - 8th Place - £3

Coverage

+ Show Spoiler +

Qualifiers will be casted as usual weekly tournaments are covered with admins picking games to be casted as they become available if necessary.

The streams used will be the SCVRush Stream or my own stream depending on availability.

ALL group stage and play off games will be casted either live or from replays depending on what can be organized between players and so on.

If you are interested in helping to caster/cover the Winter League then contact me on Skype at Wardycoupon

Rules

+ Show Spoiler +
Behaviour + Participation

- Players must check in 30 minutes before start time of qualifiers if they wish to play.
If players have severe scheduling issues we will regrettably have to remove you from the league (this means you literally can NEVER play your games - we will cast from replays if necesary)
- Whining/BM in Winter League games will result in a removal from the tournament and possibly from all future SC2Improve events.
- Typing “gg” at any point of the game (apart from opening greetings + gls) before your opponent will count as forfeiting the game (i.e. no BM ggs)
- Any form of cheating will result in removal from the event.
- If games are being streamed then spectators will not be allowed.
- If a game is not being streamed spectators are allowed if both players agree to the spectating.
- If a spectator disrupts the game in anyway or is found to be helping one player both the player and spectator will be removed from SC2Improve events.

Games + Maps

- Maps must be played on the specified versions unless there is an issue.
- If you are AFK for 10 minutes from the first possible start point of your game in a qualifier then you will be DQed from the qualifier and your opponent awarded a walk over.
- Veto down to first map into loser picks
- The winning player does get to veto one map before the loser picks.

The rules are subject to be added to as seen fit and Wardí’s decision is final.

Maybe next time! If Tuesday is a bad day for you then we do run a weekly tournament every Monday for $5. All of our events are posted at www.sc2improve.org if you would like to keep up with them

No league restrictions, it's all about getting together and having some fun This qualifier went on for 4 hours and 20 minutes (beginning to finals) and I would say that is a pretty standard time for a tournament like this to last
