Carriers have same problem as in other match ups - they take way too long to transition into. Even with a bunch of stargates chronoing out carriers theres a long time that you're vulnerable.

On paper, you can counter it with air. But in practice, the time it you take to build enough production, units and upgrades is just too long unless your opponent just sits there for 15 minutes. It is enough hard than BC transition for terrans since terrans usually already have 2-3 starports and some upgrades for vikings.
