I think Rain is just going to win this GSL and probably OSL, he's just too sick. Hero is too emotional of a player to come back from this. I also think that's why he may never win GSL.

The terran Rain is, FnaticRC Rain, he is still on Fnatic but he hasn't really done much ever since his final in a GSL last year. This is SKT Rain, a totally different beast.

SKT? That's one of the KESPA-teams, ain't it?

And it happens to have some guy named Boxer as a coach.

Two Rains and two Boxers? Or does he coach SlayerS and SKT?

I laugh at all these comments about how HerO can't come back or whatever.. Are you guys watching the same games as me? They are so close! Rain has had a slight lead in both games, yes, but it's a reason they all ended up being long macro games (for pvp, anyway).

If you call a slight lead being miles ahead in tech, upgrades, economy, fending off harass before crushing your opponent with a vastly superior army, then yes, slight lead.

Here here. Same thoughts. I think Hero kept the games closer than they should've been but Rain built up a lot of accumulated advantages for himself. It's impressive really.

Both players are good and fun to watch though. I'm just amazed at Rain.

Well, Hero did go for semi-cheese both games and it didn't work either time. The first game with the hidden DT, the second with the hidden pylon.

Perhaps, although I don't think so, if he plays straight up he can beat Rain in an extended game.

Rain countered Hero's first punch both times..... if Hero can get ahead, perhaps things will be different and he can get the momentum.

That being said, I just haven't seen any mistakes from Rain (even the hidden pylon was scouted in time to hurt Hero more than Rain).... that has to take psychological toll.

You can't use Stargate units in PvP. You can make a small pack of Phoenixes early but once unit counts start to go up, it is simply too dangerous to invest into Stargate tech. Defenders advantage is virtually non-existent (unlike ZvZ or TvT where you can have an inferior army but hold your bases anyway with spines / infestors or tanks and bunkers), and in late game you will always have at least 10 gateways ready to warp in some Stalkers, that combined with the Archons you should have in your normal late game army is enough to deal with small amounts of air units; and if you put too much money into your air tech, you'll simply get rolled over before you can do anything with it. A Fleet Beacon + Graviton Catapult, then 2 Careers on top of that is worth about the same as 5 Colossi are, and you'd need air upgrades for your Careers to do any significant damage too (nvm that 2 Careers isn't even a lot). Have you ever seen anyone with a 5 Colossi deficit and other things even win a battle in PvP?

Boxer left Slayers. SKT is the original team that he founded in BW and he has returned to them.

I have a new theory. Try to work in a stargate into your build if you survive long enough. A few phoenixes in the mid-game onwards to harass Rain's Colossi at the edge of his deathball. That can continue all game long. In the meantime, you tech to Fleet Beacon when you have enough breathing room and fit in a mothership and/or carriers. Rain's late game armies are very anti-air light and robotics heavy.

Can you 'Lul pvp suks' guys stop repeatedly filling these threads with your garbage? If you feel the urge to comment that, force yourself not too. It's so tedious that it still happens after all this time. But the funny thing is, for such a terrible match up you guys seem to still watch it, so it's obviously not that bad. Please give it a rest.

I agree with this a lot. Personally, I don't enjoy PvP that much in general, but I'll freely admit that it's because I just don't get the matchup. I don't play Protoss, and at times I have no idea what is going on. But I'm not going to fill threads complaining about it. This is one of the better PvPs I've seen, even if Hero losing always breaks my heart, but I recognise good play when I see it, even if the finer details of PvP are lost on me.

Happy already beat him and Polt was close.

The most unstoppable player this year in GSL was Squirtle who had 14 wins in a row. Then a broken down Mvp still beat him. Rain can be beat, but he can win the double if things go his way.
