To be fair pretty much only Naniwa losing was an upset. You can argue that it wasnt incredibly surprising either after seeing Naniwa lose to Sortof a couple of times this weekend. Kas, Vortix, Life, and Keen were all favored over their Protoss opponents, though. Not surprising to see them win. the 3-0s for a couple were too bad :/ but still... not completely unpredictable

Good thing there was just a PvP finals in GSL....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
NaNi you were the chosen one!
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

Kinda expected Naniwa to lose since his ZvP is very weak compared to his other match-up.

Damn, TSL is killing my liquibet stats...

Naniwa ONLY lost ecause it was cross server. That is 100% the reason he lost. Had he been in Sweden or offline at the time it would've been a one sided 3-0 for naniwa. Naniwa beat NesTea at MLG, I don't know how he lost to the likes of jonnyrecco or sortof

This is getting better and better

Being an absolutist doesn't help your case. You have much to learn, young padawan :p

My god, you burned him so badly with that 4 word post, that I'm afraid the authorities might have to press arson charges :p

So... how are those brackets for the contest doing lol

Johnny REcco would get "best Up and Coming player' - doing so well at WCS Nationals and now beating Naniwa.
BTW Im a Naniwa fan, but i not surprised , his pvZ is not tier 1 level imho.

yeah the jonny guy is a no name. nobody cares about touranments outside of gsl, mlg, dreamhack, and possibly homestory.
i'm not too impressed by this jonny guy's play, it was more naniwa playing really poorly. sc2 is just a game where mechanical skill doesn't play a large role at all in winning, hence why gsl is so volatile and former GSL champions can get knocked into up/down by other up and comers, who then suffer similar fate. all the gsl code s players are all roughly even skill wise, and even then they're only perhaps 10% better than people in code a. hence all the upsets. mechanics just dont really matter in this game, hence underdogs can win. in bw it'd be literally impossible for a korean to lose to a no name foreigner.

lmao
the amount of fanboy anger in this post pleases me.

Didn't see any of the day 2 games... After reading some of the comments will for sure watch the Life vs. Elfi series though! Sounds like the kind of games I like. Macro games... meh.

why do some people seem to want starcraft to be a purely mechanical game? the genre is called real-time STRATEGY for a reason. Naniwa is really really good mechanically, but he tends to make big mistakes in decision-making. that's just his weakness and people will have to accept that. Naniwa is reverse Goody i guess.

I like Naniwa a lot, but I feel you're not giving DJRecco or TSL enough credit. I mean, I love HSC but I'll definetly take TSL success over HSC success. I mean, do you remember Sound? And don't bring in the BW crap, players lose to up and comers in every game and every sport. It happens

The fanboy tears are pretty sweet.
I like Nani and his PvP and PvT are sick good but to put it simply, the guys quite clearly on tilt.
I can't believe someone is trying to defend Nani with 'His mechanics are so much better, JRecco is so bad' when not 2 days ago he got Supply Blocked at 18 versus SortOf. The guys lost in the match-up (I feel his pain, I'm fucking terrible at it, effing Infestors) and the fanboys here are trying to disregard every result where he loses as 'OMG SC2 BAD GAME OTHERWISE NANI WOULD HAVE WON' 'OMG NANI SICK MECHANICS JRECCO NOOB SC2 WHAT A JOKE LOL!!!!' etc. etc.
Nah, he's just bad at a match-up. Shit JYP went 0-20 vs Terran. I'm sure he wasn't that bad at PvT but constantly losing made him feel worse at it and so he'd panic or make the wrong move. Shit happens.
80% of Starcraft at the highest level is mental. If you're on tilt you'll probably lose.
edit: Forgot to put a big fat LOL at the dude crying about cross-server when Nani is in Sweden. Best post of the year.

Yeah its same as MC losing to Thorzain in previous TSL. Despite repting a tousend times that MC was in Europe when the match was played people would still cite lag as excuse.
