Sorry if this has already been answered, but in a Bo9 you only need 5 wins to win it. Your winning player keeps playing so 5 players is the most players you could ever use in a single Bo9.
5-4 would be the way to get to a ninth game, but you can only use 5 players in that situation.

You're right, I meant "in a position to win the game" because he was in control of the game, had the bank, and was definitely at an advantage. Still the same thing when it comes to the point I was making.

Best of nine means best of nine games, so the maximum games played in a game would be nine, since it's winners format.
