I'm sad cuz nani isn't going to make it out of this group alive. his zvp is abysmal and hero's got his number in pvp historically.

His PvZ isn't nearly as bad as to lose to a noname EU Zerg. Well, hopefully at least.

Stephano overall placed the best in average out of all zergs behind DRG.

Again, im not saying he is the best zerg in the world or stuff like that, but hes awesome, hes the best foreigner and a top 10 zerg in the world period.

Every korean progamer would agree with this statement, im pretty sure.

I don't disagree with that statement either, he's a top 5 Zerg imo.

But I disagree with them constantly acting like he's a top 1 Zerg and a top 1 player when his results do not back that up one bit.

Really nobody is constantly acting like he is the top1 Zerg. People see him as one of the best foreigner zerg, and probably one of the top-x in the world. Thats all. Let it go man.

lol wut? People always act like Stephano is the best Zerg in the world. Luckily with DRG winning MLG, people have settled down a bit.

No we dont his a top 3 zerg in the world no one has ever sayd Stephano is the best zerg in the world

Actually you were saying just a few weeks before MLG than Stephano had better ZvP than DRG.

Luckily Sase shut you up this weekend.

Oh man, i really don't want to be part of this discussion but DRG lost to Socke in MLG no ? so just let it go, DRG is better we all know.

Didn't he beat DRG in that blizzard championship tournament? he's at least as good I'd say.. except he has a life.. I think people hates him because of that.. he's the Capablanca of SC2

ROFL and here they come.

DRG in 2012:
1st Code S Season 1
1st MLG Spring Arena 1
1st MLG Spring Championship
2nd MLG Winter Championship
2nd MLG Winter Arena

Stephano in 2012
2nd Assembly Winter

Yeah dude, Stephano is for sure as good as DRG.

Stephano hasn't won a premier tournament in 8 months. Just throwing that stat out there for people who seem to forget it all too often.

Well only 3 Zergs have won a premier tournament more recently than Stephano. So yeah that's more than 1 or 2 but you're being a bit nitpicky.

It's just very off base when people talk about Stephano as this god of the game when it's actually a really long time since he won anything major when you wouldn't get anything like the same endless stream of hyperbole for Leenock, Violet, Symbol or any of the various players of other races with better/equal results in 2012 than Stephano.

I mean Nestea has similar results to Stephano in the time between them all last winning a tournament and yet Nestea is in this massive slump according to most.

lmao @ judging my post before reading the entire arguement. Tournament results = prize money which is what the argument was about lol. So for this argument yes. Unless we can only base it off of what you PERCEIVE it to be based on. Enlighten me please

A GSL ro8 is harder to get to/a better result than outright winning any foreign tournament besides MLGs/IPL4 but doesn't give even close to the prize money.

That's not true at all.
Naniwa beat Virus, Puzzle, Ryung and Genius to get to the round of 8.

A lot of foreign tournaments show better runs than that. For example Stephano beating Ganzi,Illusion,Violet,Squirtle and Parting to get only 3d place at Redbull is at least as hard as what Naniwa did.

Best foreigner? Maybe when he proves he can do well in GSL, where people have a long time to prepare against his style.

That is funny Stephano is the most studied player in Korea since his IPL 3 win and the onyl thing that has happend are Stephano dominating more Koreans

You people are so hillarious

Matter infact Ill say alot of you a racist if Stephano was Korean you would proberly wont say anything bad about Stephano

No, if he didn't show up hungover to tournaments, showing how little he cares about people supporting him I wouldn't say bad stuff about him. I liked him too ya know. He just grew a little too arrogant for my taste in people.
He's a fucking AMAZING player and he feels the game like only few others but that doesn't make him the best.

People really need to go and look up arrogant in the dictionary.

I don't see how it's not the correct word to use.

Well you could say he has a painfully realist attitude but he has always acknowledged other player's skill, just because one is not humble does not mean he's arrogant.

I believe it is. Stephano will being going to korea soon unless something has changed. So can't really go by that until he does. Its all about what we hold as more value when determining skill. If they got to GSL ro8 then by that logic they should roll every other tournament but we all know thats not the case.

He gave an interview recently.
He's just going for 3 or 4 weeks at the TSL house, perhaps he will play a GSTL match, but isn't doing GSL.
Look in his fanclub for the interview.

No, but beating Ganzi in TvZ, Violet in ZvZ and Squirtle in ZvP is a lot harder than beating Ryung and Virus in PvT and winning two PvPs...

The Stephano hype is so ridiculous. "Only Stephano holds that". Yes that's why DRG is a much better Zerg Geoff. Stephano is a fucking great player sure but say many people seem to forget DRG exists when they're throwing out the hyperbole.

If your in a position where you play Starcraft 2 and there's 1 or 2 players better than you of your race, I'd say you've hit the big time.

So stephano is better than nestea, buyl, symbol, life etc ?

Symbol - no.
Nestea - I can´t really judge that.
Byul, life - yes.

You actually think he is worse than symbol but doubt Nestea who has been in code S forever and actually won it ? Symbol has yet to prove himself in GSL but a lot of people think he is the best zerg.

Symbol overrated by alot. He dont even got a fraction of Stephano achievement he didnt look good at all at MLG while Stephano went 5-0 in his group. Once again Symbol is Korean and thats the only reason why people would even say that.

He all-killed IM and took second at Iron Squid (a tournament Stephano was in and failed to get out of the group stages)

He allkillled so what so did QXC? His Korean and thats the only reason why he is even spoken in the same sentence as Stephano

And you talk about Iron Squid? Online means nothing.. All that matters is lan

QXC all-killed IM when they sent out 3 code b players and the team leagues were only bo7. Symbol all killed them when they sent out all their best players besides Seed. It was also a reverse all-kill which is even more impressive.

The last few rounds of Iron Squid were lan and online does mean something. The only reason people say online doesn't mean anything is because of latency but in this case the latency would have favored Stephano and he was the one who lost... So that just makes him look even worse.

ah so online now means something, when it's stephano winning online it means absolutely nothing, get your shit together when you're hating

My argument makes perfect sense. The latency advantage (the only reason people say online tournaments don't matter) was FAVORING Stephano. He still lost in Iron Squid.

Aeroplaneoverthesea I see your comment "Stephano hasnt won a premier tournament in 8 months" for the 4th fucking time now. plz stop to try to annoy ppl and open your eyes - there is 3 zergs who DID WIN a premiier tournament in this time.

Didn't he beat DRG in that blizzard championship tournament? he's at least as good I'd say.. except he has a life.. I think people hates him because of that.. he's the Capablanca of SC2

ROFL and here they come.

DRG in 2012:
1st Code S Season 1
1st MLG Spring Arena 1
1st MLG Spring Championship
2nd MLG Winter Championship
2nd MLG Winter Arena

Stephano in 2012
2nd Assembly Winter

Yeah dude, Stephano is for sure as good as DRG.

Ok, make a dedicated 'stephano is not the one true god' thread and get this discussion out of the LR. Really, whats your point? Distracting everyone with your meaningless views on how the community views stephano? If thats it, make a thread, or better yet, a Blog. Don't do it here.

Stop trolling.

While exaggerating, he is kind of right. Therea re tons of good players who simply aren't recognized as such because they are not sent to every other event tournament, which means that foreigners tend to think "lol code B scrub ez". Meanwhile, players who stroll around get all the hype because "OMG resultz and small number placingz!".
Watch Puma's results in foreign tournaments compared to korean ones to realize that a few runs in korean "second rate" tournaments can and should be considered extremely relevant to judge a player's overall skill.

No, there aren't. You see the same names being sent to tournaments because those are the ones doing well in Korean Weeklies, GSL qualifiers, team matches, and internal practice matches. There aren't 30 Code B Zergs at Stephano's level just waiting to break out in Korea; you don't know a lot about the scene thinking there are.

Please, keep twisting my words to support the idea that I am hating on Stephano, and explicitly suggesting that I am a fool who doesn't know what he's talking about.
I am not saying that there are "30 better zergs than him in Code B".
I am saying that there are a lot of zergs that could play at very high levels, and that Stephano should actually play in their same conditions to be ultimately proven to be that much better than them. Life, Monster, Sniper, Losira, Hyun, Coca, Leenock, Curious, Seal (yes, a bit unwarranted, a concession to faboyism) off the top of my head could likely perform on similar levels in a highly competitive tournament. But Stephano never did play in their same conditions. I follow the korean scene quite well.

Flying players from Korean to EU and NA is extremely expensive, which is why most Korean teams send a very limited amount unless paid for or partnered with foreign teams that provide financial support. It is entirely foolish not to admit that it is easier to get results when, you know, you can actually partecipate in tournaments, and assume that there is some perfect internal ranking system by which the absolute best performer is always sent out, and he always has a massive edge on everyone else in his team.

Phew, Nerchio barely made it out of the group.

And curse you Dreamhack, if I won't see any Fraer game in this tournament streamed.

Because only finns have heard about him

I remember him doing okay at one of the other dreamhacks. Not sure which. He definitely needs some recognition.
