If a new player from America has a lot of skill, he will have good games @ international tournaments like MLG, and then he will have some attention, like for exemple Illusion when he defeated some koreans. A skilled player can find ways to receive recognition The thing is the teams won't get players that don't bring in viewers. If these players don't have teams that can sponsor them they can't compete in many tournaments. But if a player has raw skill and if he trains well (you can not be a contender for GSL without team I know lol, but you can get a decent level just by practising alone, at least that's my opinion), he can place well in some minor tournaments, like Playhem dailies, and if he is consistent, teams will be interested cause he has the potential to improve with good teammates and to bring some results and attention to the team itself For example, when Millenium acquired Stephano, he was not a very-known player, and he started by playing in every GO4SC2 (a tournament in Europe twice a week), and he did very well so then he competed in european tournament and then international tournaments. I think this is a problem specific to NA actually, people seem much more attached to the veterans there. In europe is a little easier to stand out also, you can stand out in a single country first and grow on that. Vibe for example has been here for a decent time and yet most people don't know him. Maybe i'm wrong but in the NA the image many time truphs the skill.
You pick Vibe as an example, but even though i'm european, I know him for quite a while cause I sometimes watch NASL, but from what I saw of him, nothing really impressed me, i thought he was a good player but not amazing. I'm not sure the image is so important : yes Incontrol is known but people don't think he's one of the best americans, and IdrA is known, and maybe he's not anymore the best in NA, but there was a time when he was clearly the best in America and was even one of the best foreigner, so the attention he receives is not totally undeserved

Not unless Milkis has had major reconstructive facial surgery.

User was warned for this post first, this is usa. second, usa is one country so don't compare it to europe. If you compare it population-wise though, we really are pretty bad. its only equivalent to a few countries. besides, you have to take the culture into account Well, USA has a population of like 312 million, Sweden has 10 million. And you could make very good arguments for them being on par. But then UK has 62 million and only two good players so I can't really talk. Higher population, yes. Also a larger country with events all over it, money being a factor, it is very difficult to break out in America without having a favorable situation. By your logic though, China should have the best players in the world just because they have the largest pop. Not really, not by my logic no. Did you read what I was replying to at all? We weren't talking about culture. One person said by population the US is really bad, and that's all we're talking about. Another responded the US is only equivalent to a few countries, and my point was it's equivalent to 31.2 Swedens, so by population it's really bad. Obviously there is a reason for it... and that reason is culture. this guy is right. i don't see how you guys don't see it. there's a reason why koreans are dominant. its not because of their population.
EDIT: Actually doesn't matter.

I think I watched more fighters than SC2 on the first day, it's really nice change to watching SC every weekend. Yeah but if you follow KOF you already knew who would end up winning...I liked SC5 more, many close games, and i think Kayane was the only girl gamer in the tornament, and she placed 2nd. I guess the top places are expected but still pretty good games to see, I honestly don't care so much who finishes where Also the Juicebox Abel commentator is pretty entertaining.
About SC5, I don't like the graphics, it's too flashy or I don't know, I probably watch only for Kayane. BTW I noticed her name on the poster/pad/whatever with all the signs Tastosis showed while ago.

If they met earlier it would have been starting from 2-1 or 2-0 extended to bo7 into bo9 if the loser wins first to 4.

Mr.Morhaime please explain why the nationals have different price pools... What makes US better than Germany and Sweden in SC2 ? Pretty silly if you ask me.
