No one would argue that LastShadow is anywhere NEAR MVP's skill, so I don't see why we would expect him to beat Squirtle. The games against Ret were disappointing because he lost Banshees due to missed micro and a couple of poor timing choices with his mech. And while I don't think that Day9 was necessarily wise to invite LastShadow from a PR standpoint, it was a replacement for Polt who had to back out, and there isn't anything wrong with giving unexposed players a chance to see if they can play with the big boys. If Day9 had invited literally anyone else in the world who had done some sort of progaming and was a current player, no one would have bitched (to this extent). They think it's simply because the two are friends. What about Sheth? Day9 practices with him and they're good friends, so why are we not upset about Sheth? True, Sheth has much more results than LastShadow, but I bet you could think of people who were arguably more skilled to TRY and invite (TO BE CLEAR: I AM NOT ARGUING SHETH SHOULDN'T BE THERE: it just seems to me that people are being harsher than necessary). It's not a matter of getting the 16 best players or 16 players with the most aggregate tournament appearances. People need to take a chill pill and just enjoy the games. That last game against Squirtle was pretty epic with the proxy hellions and then the bitbybit moment with Squirtle's EXCELLENT positioning and Storm timings. For me personally, the Lastshadow felt like it truly came out of left field. I mean, it's an invitational, so we as spectators to a free-to-watch tournament can't complain too much, but it just seems that Lastshadow just disappeared from the scene back in 2010 when he got 4th at an MLG and just suddenly pops back up. It's kind of like inviting a guy like Cauthonluck or something. Lastshadow was put in a pretty shitty position though. How do you turn down an invite like this, yet everyone expects you to fail (and some even hope you fail), and you are in a group with Ret, Squirtle and PartinG? A tough situation indeed. Yeah pretty much this. The only chance he had of getting some respect/less hate from the community was to somehow upset the two best PvT players on the planet or beat Ret who is a monster. Instead he lost which a lot of players would and is getting shit on, plus he has probably read this thread and the prior thread and saw all the hate so wouldn't have helped his mindset or confidence much
Same flak Incontrol got for getting seeded into every 2011 MLG and getting raped by Korean pros.
However, you are a full time progamer, being a token player through invitation without going through the same process everyone has gone through. People can at least expect him to take a game, or have a strong showing.

He's not putting himself above others there though, he's simply stating his opinion on the korean vs foreigner skill level, without including himself at all as far as I can read.

So if squirtle wins a game, it's him>parting
if he goes 0-2, it's parting>ret
do I have it right?

Maybe they just should've given him his own group and spot in the bracket? Group E, population: 1? Each group is equally hard. People are pissed because there are a number of equally skilled (and better) players that would've loved to have the chance at playing there and would've put on much better performances than LastShadow.
And the reason that people aren't so harsh about Sheth is because he has legitimately earned his place at an invite tournament through his performances at MLGs and the IGN events, not because he recently became very popular. It also helps that he doesn't have the personality of a potato.

I never said he puts himself higher. He's just a douche for thinking so lowly of foreigners, claiming that you have to live in Korea to be good. Yet he is a foreigner living in korea and got his ass kicked. The guy just comes off as a know-it all douche on tl and in interviews and he can't put up results.

Indeed. I also know a friend of mine who plays SC2 in his free time, which is about 4-5 games a week, and he made it all the way into Diamond! He has to be a better player in terms of talent than most progamers, who put in hundreds of games each week.
