Was expecting a bit more from someone who used to gloat that they were a top 5 foreigner terran player. Well, in all fairness to him, Squirtle is one of the best Protoss in the world right now, giving even MVP a run for his money. No one would argue that LastShadow is anywhere NEAR MVP's skill, so I don't see why we would expect him to beat Squirtle. The games against Ret were disappointing because he lost Banshees due to missed micro and a couple of poor timing choices with his mech. And while I don't think that Day9 was necessarily wise to invite LastShadow from a PR standpoint, it was a replacement for Polt who had to back out, and there isn't anything wrong with giving unexposed players a chance to see if they can play with the big boys. If Day9 had invited literally anyone else in the world who had done some sort of progaming and was a current player, no one would have bitched (to this extent). They think it's simply because the two are friends. What about Sheth? Day9 practices with him and they're good friends, so why are we not upset about Sheth? True, Sheth has much more results than LastShadow, but I bet you could think of people who were arguably more skilled to TRY and invite (TO BE CLEAR: I AM NOT ARGUING SHETH SHOULDN'T BE THERE: it just seems to me that people are being harsher than necessary). It's not a matter of getting the 16 best players or 16 players with the most aggregate tournament appearances. People need to take a chill pill and just enjoy the games. That last game against Squirtle was pretty epic with the proxy hellions and then the bitbybit moment with Squirtle's EXCELLENT positioning and Storm timings. | ||

This is an invite-only tournament with 16 of the best players. Its bullshit when a friend of one of the organizers gets invited over people who deserve it more. If he qualified, or had ANY decent results to justify an invite then fine. He had 1 attribute, knowing Day9. | ||

You've been struggling to defend him and his play for a while now, what's the point? He objectively played awful. The fact that it was Squirtle is meaningless, he died to a zealot and a stalker. Any masters protoss could have done that, it was totally standard. When you talk the amount of shit that LastShadow does then people are going to criticize you when you play awful. I don't see how that's "hateful". | ||
