But Hydras are not great vs gateway compositions. Maybe they're great when the protoss attacks up your ramp with some gateway composition against ling/roach and hydra. Even if you crush these attacks though, you still just can't counter attack with Hydras. And medium to big sized armies, Hydras don't really matter much thanks to forcefield and their slow speed.
