Surprised Monster didn't simply take the gold instead of his natural and autowin. Perhaps he pities the foreigner.

I would be really suprised if any of the koreans didn't get out of his group. Also I wonder whether Machine can win a single map.

Does anyone have a reliable source for GESL results? Twitter, Facebook, anything?

I love how much better Inori has gotten.

Doesn't surprise me one bit.

TSL is an amazing team at taking mediocre or poor players and turning them into brilliant players.

Just look at Polt, Puma, JYP, Symbol, Alive, Heart, Clide.

That team is just a production line of great players.

polt was only "mediocre" when he was playing part time while going to school...

So Polt was originally pretty bad.

Then out of nowhere he won the super tournament but his play looked kind of gimmicky with a lot of cheesy stuff and timing rush based play.

Then he moved to TSL and he turned into the sickest solid macro player who still has the sick micro and rush builds he's always had but also has developed great mutitask and late game play which he definitely did not have pre TSL.

He's definitely a far better and more versatile player since he joined TSL.

not only did polt not come out of nowhere he was also a code S terran for the majority of the time before winning the super tournament while still going to school ~_~

All sorts of bad players were Code S then and Polt was considered (probably wrongly) one of them.

Why would arguably the best TvP-player at that time be considered bad?

You revisionists make me laugh.

Spoilered, since it's off topic Polt-talk.
+ Show Spoiler +

Revisionist...sure.

This is part of my first post on TL, it's me in december 2010 defending OGSTops TvT by using beating Polt as an example as to why Top was good in the matchup.

On December 03 2010 03:28 TheBanana wrote:
oGsTop beat Polt.Prime in a tvt in GSL1, Naama and Fenix both beat oGsTop in tvt. Jinro is a foreigner so logically speaking how would it be impossible to reach for instance RO8 for a foreigner even in this GSL? GSL3?
(Jinro got Ro4 in GSL3, I should have gone back to that thread and gloated.)

I've considered Polt a good player from the very start of my GSL-following, not because I'm a super expert, but because it was the general consensus among a lot of people. I hated his ass from january 2011, so I remember very clearly how he was considered from then on. Particularly his TvP and it started before he had results to back it up. Either way, everybody knew and had opinions about Polt before he won the Super Tournament, that's not true for "mediocre" or unknown players.
We all saw him coming.

And by that my part in this discussion is over, it has sidetracked too much from the tournament at hand.
If you're not getting better faster than everybody else, you're getting worse.

Still, people watch EG despite it all, atleast they market themselves so well that even if their results are sub-par, they're still pulling viewers. Also tied the highest number of players by a foreign team to make it to the pools in MLG, out of the open brackets!

It must be nice for EG to have such marketable players that are currently pretty average, even the ones at the bottom of the EG ladder currently still draw viewers whereas the lesser Quantic players... (wait, what are their names? I can't even remember) What use are they to their sponsors?

I believe lesser known players on major teams like Quantic don't get salary, but they get sent to some events and get paid if they do well or something. It's a good deal for both parties until the player gets to the point where another team will give them a salary.

What use is LzGaMeR to EG's sponsors? Every team has "dead weight" in SC2 for the most part

He has apparently a good BW background in the bank with WCG USA showings, that's pretty good.

Well organised tournament, unfortunately the games have been a bit too one-sided + it's a big caster circus.
