Doesn't surprise me one bit.

TSL is an amazing team at taking mediocre or poor players and turning them into brilliant players.

Just look at Polt, Puma, JYP, Symbol, Alive, Heart, Clide.

That team is just a production line of great players.

polt was only "mediocre" when he was playing part time while going to school...

So Polt was originally pretty bad.

Then out of nowhere he won the super tournament but his play looked kind of gimmicky with a lot of cheesy stuff and timing rush based play.

Then he moved to TSL and he turned into the sickest solid macro player who still has the sick micro and rush builds he's always had but also has developed great mutitask and late game play which he definitely did not have pre TSL.

He's definitely a far better and more versatile player since he joined TSL.

not only did polt not come out of nowhere he was also a code S terran for the majority of the time before winning the super tournament while still going to school ~_~

All sorts of bad players were Code S then and Polt was considered (probably wrongly) one of them.

Polt didn't come out of nowhere.

He won 2 SK Gaming Asia Champions Trophies before the Super Tournament and people were already picking him last in group stages. Before the ST he was considered one of the best TvP players on the planet. He started transitioning to macro play after GSL July.

Definitely, he has been around since the very start and came out of plain sight to win the super tournament.
Fun fact: In round 1 of the very first GSL Polt took out MC.

I feel like looking at this player pool the chances of a non Korean winning are around 1000/1.

Where the hell are you getting all these statistics? Most people on the forums considered him (rightly) one of the top terrans in the world before the tournament started plus even if the level of play isn't of todays standard.. it certainly was still the top tournament for sc2 and still is so.. yeah he was a code S terran and still is (even though he barely didn't make the cut in up/downs this season)

you didn't even have a TL profile when this was going on (super tournament and before)

I really dislike terran MKP style heavy bio low tank style. It is just not effective unless your control is ridiculous like mkp generally -.-

Why would arguably the best TvP-player at that time be considered bad?

Meh, this tournaments pretty disappointing so far. Obvious results, subpar casters outside of Azael, long break times. I won't be tuning in any more.
