I CAN'T DECIDE!!!! SjoW is like the coolest guy ever! He was like the only mod when I talked to him in MorroW's streamchat and he was so funny! He kept calling me "kid" and kept talking to me in a mix of swedish and english, making me copy and paste individual words into Google translate. Lol but I am a mod for DeMusliM, and I think he's a really swell and handsome guy too! And we both love House!!! (the series) I couldn't decide!!! So I decided to just put some random numbers there.
Ugg I didn't think I could ever be so torn between two players.

He crashed out to Scarlett? Who despite all the hype, wasn't that amazing, and it was TvZ which is his best matchup (he shouldn't have offered the regame, that was stupid, completely Scarlett's fault if she misclicked) and lost to MoOk 2-0, which is kind of sad.
He basically loses to every protoss nowadays.
Demuslim may be my favorite player, but I'm less than impressed by his recent play.

He only beat Zenio and CatZ...he was favored against CatZ, and Zenio is on a MAJOR slump. He dropped match one against a fairly unknown Protoss and was eliminated by Scarlett, who was unknown before IPL 4. I actually consider Demuslim's performance underwhelming.

Guess this could tell us a thing or two as to how Ryung should perform tomorrow/tonight. His PvT seems very erratic, ranging from abusive, via impressive to simply poor.
Really hope HerO gets a good start to the group, really want to see him compete in Toronto.
Edit: I hope hope hope Gretorp will be the analytical caster between the two. Would be much nicer to listen to than him as pbp.
Wait, the preview says the first game between Hero and Ryung should be on Ohana, but it's Dual Sight. It sounded like the casters were a bit confused at the beginning of the game, could they have loaded the wrong replay...?

Because it spams the liquibets with a ton of matches every week, most of which nobody gives two shits about.
every day i look at the tl calendar and get excited for the nasl match, but as soon as the broadcast starts everything comes back to me and i immediately turn it off. all the sound is coming out of the left speaker, sound randomly dips really low, tons of errors in the overlays, and there is so much goddamn shit covering up the screen during games. i'm only watching tonight because i want to be watching when nony starts winning again lol.

I would say only a bit underwhelming. Beating Zenio was his biggest win since beating Nestea. - Only won 1 match (ostoji) at MLG - Only won 1 of his 4 EGMC matches (losing against Alica, DieStar and Catz, win vs Delphi) - Only won vs Destiny at Lonestar Clash - Lost all of his 5 NASTL matches
Slump? I would say so. (looking at this he seems to lose everything but TvZ)
gotta root for my fellow germans go darkforce go Hasu!
That was a twitch bug IIRC. It was always intended to be free 480.
Yeah NASL confirmed yesterday that they were working on fixing it. I think sometime in the middle of the cast yesterday I got 480 back, so no problems. Stuff happens, and of course with Bitterdam there yesterday it was pretty easy to live with.
Nice hold by HerO. His PvT scares me a lot still, but it is definitely improving. Good times.
that was one of the worst 1-1-1's I have ever seen. I have no idea why he picked up into heroes base with his marines and left his tanks completely unprotected to get pushed on. Very poorly executed by Ryung. Hope he picks it up in g2.

You should see the 1080+ HQ. NASL has always had a really nice (possibly the best?) visual stream. They have had audio issues, and a rather bad free stream quality, but the HQ is always crazy good. Glad they are stepping it up this season with the free stream.

That never really looked like a game at all. HerO played very passively after getting that really nice lift on the third, but overall just looked superior in every respect.
Not the best series - Can't really put a finger on HerO's play, but Ryung again made some questionable moves - HerO's patience at that first attack from Ryung was awesome to see though! :-)

loving nasl season 3! i liked that euro update by rotty , i wish they could have shown some stats , play , or tournament to justify why the player is in the list
When do the casters announce whether the games are live (this one isn't, i saw the rep bar)? At the beginning of the broadcast? I think they should do it before each match as well, because some viewers might only tune in for their favorite matchup.
Alright - Im usually never up to watch NASL live (It starts at 3AM TT), but the fact that they hired BitterDam won me over - Their production seems quite alot better than the previous seasons - I must admit, I didnt pay much attention to NASL in season 2 because season 1 was such a letdown for me. This seems much better; Fresh start and all that.
glad to see you back gretorp. Like frodan too since I first heard him cast the EWM with Katu. Cool that he stepped up to bigger ambitions great start for this season of nasl

That attack was pretty cute. Has to be frustrating to play against that as Zerg, I am sure it can be tricky to not follow your instincts and knowledge about all the Forge fast expand timings.
I don't like it at all, when Darkforce plays like that. He`s not too greedy, but he lets the opponent (T or P) max on 3 bases. (at least he gets fast BL)
Nony really missed his timing, he played the game out well but he didn't really seem to have a plan for the late game. Burrowed lings are really good too

Yeah it is a rather weak game. My guess is that Darkforce thinks he is the better player and just plays it super safe. No need for him to attack early or be greedy.

Nah, that wasn't a bad game at all - both players hesitated on their timings, but engagements-wise it was great. Darkforce had no idea the game was loseable with 15-20 brood lords spread out and encircling the Protoss, but that's the lesson you have to learn.
On April 13 2012 11:21 Dodgin wrote: Wow Nony played really well there.

Yeah he had like a 3-4 minute window to attack where there was no mothership and didn't capitalize on it, Zergs really need to scout better once they get their bl/infestor army to see when It's a good time to attack.
Good play by NonY, but gawd darkforce needed to push sooner, NonY had time to finish his stargate, build a fleet beacon, and then pump out a mothership before he finally pushed. If he wasn't going to push after that engagement in the center of the map, darkforce should have expanded more, me thinks.

I also commented how Darkforce played way to safe/passive early. He didnt take a fast 3rd but also didnt prevent Nony from taking one. Can't do that as Zerg. He had superb map control. Just drone hard.

Darkforce displaying a lack of ruthlessness. After he won the first battle he should have attacked and he would have won. He knew that Nony was lacking a third base, but Darkforce was just too passive. I don't think this game showcased just how good he actually is.

Yes and no - DF missed his timing with the broods, but Nony missed his timing with the colossi - they both made mistakes there, which is what made the game 200/200 vs. 200/200. What made the game good was the engagement towards the end and how Nony pulled out that victory against spread out a huge number of brood lords and infestors without using an archon toilet.
btw, dear casters around the world, getting 200 roaches zvp was not a stephano creation. for example, losira was doing it ages ago. and it's not like he made it up either. it was just a "korean roach timing." i get that its useful to define a style in 2 secs by reffing a player, but be careful not to deify a player by attributing 2 much 2 him.
Okay, so this timing by Nony hits 7:30-8:00, which is when a 3 hatch build's roaches are just popping out. I think it's a great push, but I think DF is over-responding to it as well - I wonder what Stephano does against this.

200 roaches is not the build. 3 hatch before tech is the build. Stephano popularized and perfected it.

Most casters don't follow the Korean scene closely or at all, I think that's why this kind of thing happens.

Well, in the foreign scene he has become known for it because he perfected it. He was able to do the fast third -> 60ish drones while being safe against anything.

Because apparently it's imba to take the centre, so to reduce the incentive to take the centre, they reduced it to 5m1g. Stupid decision IMO. There's a lot of risk to taking the centre bases as well.

GG Nony, a bit sloppy with the micro but he gets it done with a good defense.
DF over-reacted to the 2 gate expand I think. He was too used to forge fast expand and had to improvise his build, resulting in a poor economy that was not able to transition. His roach spam was okay but Nony was way ahead all game long due to his build - 160 supply roaches vs. 130 supply in gateway units backed by 2-3 immortals is not winnable.
Great job nony, so happy to see him getting his play out there after so long. Also good interview I thought given it was brief, NASL pulling all the threads together, making it work - nice.
Man, looking forward to Nony improving his mechanics again. I want to see his style of PvZ vs. Stephano, but right now I think Stephano is going to crush him due to mechanics differences, but that's solvable with practice.
Impressive play by Nony. Let's hope he can show us some more of his really special 1 base exp builds. it is "oldschool" but i think there is a place for it inn sc2. Gives toss players more flexibility it seems

Right there was the coolest part for me. The fact that we like to think of BL/Infestor as only beatable with a vortex if the Z is clumped, Nony just exploited the FUCK out of the fact that it isolates the BL's from their cover.
Not the most exciting game I've seen, but Nony's engagement in the lower left made up for it.

It is a mixture. Some games are casted live, others from replays that are at most 1 day old. The actual casting is live.
EDIT: This particular series was from replays.
That is quite impressive for a daily show! From season 1-2 where there where huge meta changes sometimes between play and cast this is a huge improvement. For me it do not matter if there is a day old replay. hard too do everything live.
NASL just seems more pro. Also the price money for each match is smart. because if somebody has no chance too advance they will still play 100% too win because there is money on the line.
they actually do it much better than last season, last season could be games casted from months prior, meaning the strategies and such are out of date, where as now, games most of the time are literally casted the same day played, so even if they are replays, the strategies and such are still in date, obviously casting a live tournament strictly live when you have all 3 time zones is ridiculously tricky and hard to accomodate for. So for me personally, it's much better seeing actual strategies and such that are up to date and yeah .

heh, I see why some people get angry. Hasuobs played from behind with little multitasking. Just passive turtling to 200 with a mothership and it just seems so hard for dimaga to punish it.

As a Protoss player, crisis management against a flood of speedlings and banelings is incredibly hard and scary x.x One little crack in your defense and you're just dead.
Dimaga basically took Stephano's 3 hatch roach build and made it work with zerglings and banelings instead. Fun style, a bit flimsy though - I think a Protoss prepared for it is able to counter it.

oh my god thank you so much.
200 roaches in 12-14 minutes was semi-standard since a long time, I even remember IdrA talking about the third at 25 pop a year ago. But Protoss were winning more games against this than losing, I even remember everytime someone made roaches the LRs would go OH MY GOD ROACHES SO BAD WHY THEY DO THAT. But in MLGs I still remember a shakuras game, CoCa vs NaNi that CoCa won with straight up 3 base roach with a few hydras because NaNi went stargate, NaNi was crushed. The difference was that Zergs didn't have the injects as sharp and more than that, a lot of zerg players didn't bother to maneuver their roaches correctly. Now it's like Stephano with his superior creep-spread, maneuvering, defense against all-ins revolutionized something. No he is just making the most obvious unit to make in the matchup until he is maxed. Fact is, Stephano is just playing an old build superbly.
I really like that Frodan, unlike so many other casters, actually pay close attention (most of the time anyway) to what is going on in the production tab. Is very nice.

200 roaches in 12-14 minutes was bad on a lot of the older maps because of rush distances favoring fast pressure, Protoss going gate expand instead of FFE, and throwing in 5 gates that Zergs had a lot of trouble defending.
Stephano's ZvP is unique because of the way he has every timing down and is able to defend against builds that Zergs going 3 hatch before were not able to. But then again, Protoss are going FFE every single game these days and that's why 3 hatch has become standard.
What Stephano gave Zergs is a different way of thinking about the match up - Zergs back then were playing scared and you had IdrA and Artosis telling people that Protoss is able to turtle on two bases and come out with void ray colossi compositions that were unbeatable. Then Stephano came along and told Zergs that the match up is not about cheesing and it's not about playing scared - what you had to do against FFE was build 4 zerglings, a third base, and no tech for 6-7 minutes, after which you deny Protoss's third and they lose.
Really surprised Dimaga won it after that rather fail Baneling drop at the natural, where he could have killed four or more Sentries but did not get to drop them inside the wall off.
Anyway, was both amused and entertained by the series. Another good day of NASL. Good times.

Little trivia for you guys:
At the IEM World Championships, Dimaga played this style vs MC in practice games and went 5-0.
He's be working on it for a while. If it doesn't look perfect it's because it's so APM intensive, but it's a very effective and exciting way to play Zerg. (imo)

3 hatch gives you a huge economic advantage and Dimaga wasn't playing from behind at any stage in the game. It felt that way because he had 1.5k minerals and gas banked while transitioning to hive tech, but Hasu was not in a position to threaten Dimaga except for a brief window when he had archons and Dimaga failed to build spine crawlers - archons being the counter to zergling baneling compositions. The rest of the game played out the way it did with a solid timing from Dimaga that resulted in him having infestors and brood lords before Hasu had a mothership, which sealed the deal.

I'm waiting for Stephano to play it - he has the potential to take it to awesome heights with his APM and multi-tasking. Nothing against Dimaga though, he's a great player in his own right though he struggles at times in tournaments.
Those predictions are pretty fun, hehe. I love the concept behind a lot of the segments NASL came up with. They really are turning this into a show instead of just a bunch of games one after the other.
Just a suggestion: some music in the background would be the icing on the cake. The side segments are great but just having two people talk feels a bit hollow for some reason.

It is actually kind of awesome. Color me surprised. Love it.
I'm not sure where else to put this - I just bought the subscription for season 3 and I wanted to watch some vods from day 1. Are they not up yet? I can't find them. I feel bad for putting this in this thread but they don't have a contact tab so I have no idea who to email. If anyone could help me out I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Do not see any vods. You can try their contact form at http://www.nasl.tv/Home/Contact though, I did not see an e-mail address at a cursory scan, but at least that should help. Have not seen anything official about the timeline of released vods either, not that I have looked very hard.

LB would have been good for this season because all the games were played less than 24 hours ago, they removed it in season 2 because there was no way to tell the condition of the players or even where they were in the world when the games were played.

Thank you very much!! Couldn't find the contact page at all. :D.

For as long as the VODs are not up, you can also -- if you're subscribed -- watch the stream recordings on the twitch.tv site. Just go to http://www.twitch.tv/nasls3 and click the Videos tab below the player (or go here: http://www.twitch.tv/nasls3/videos).
Didn't expect Nony to win, especially not 2-0 considering his performance for the past year. It wasn't great play, and admittedly Darkforce didn't play that well, but it could be the start of a turnaround....hopefully.

oh my god thank you so much.
Fact is, Stephano is just playing an old build superbly.
yeah. I remember seeing a lot of GSL games where zerg went 60 drone max roach, especially on maps like Terminus. Kyrix vs Hongun and Min vs Genius (both individual league and team league) come to mind. but these guys would die to blink stalker all-ins and stuff on other maps. What makes stephano's build "stephano's build" is all the little intricate timings that make it apparently untouchable by early pressure, not the fact that he takes a 3rd base and maxes on roaches.
So happy Nony Won! Hope he takes the whole thing! Also NASL is really impressive this season, I like it a lot will definetly have it on these last 3 weeks of the semester when I need SC in my life.
OSHIT I forgot how much I love TvT when two EU oldschool bio players have a showdown Dunno who to cheer for Second edit: I haven't spoiled the games yet, so excited!

That's way too early to say. Beating a mediocre european zerg doesn't mean anything.

It means progress when what you are doing is to rebuild yourself almost from scratch.
