Those 3 foreigners were also in the groups from the start, 0 foreigners made it out of the open bracket into the pools.

Huk and Sase were one round away from making it though, they deserve a lot of credit for that.

Yeah, that's true.Huk and SaSe played well but there were sooo many koreans in the open bracket.I wish Naniwa was here.

Indeed, very good performance from Huk and Sase both.

I'm also still pretty happy for Jinro, made it to LR 5 (only 5 foreigners did) and losses to viOlet and Creator aren't exactly bad.

So all the players in group stages are all Koreans except the ones that were directly seeded into groups...

A bracket full of random Koreans, looks like GSL.

I'll come back to the Ro8 and check if there is still a foreigner left, if not, thanks im done with you IPL. If I want to see a Korean tournament I can go watch GSL Vods with Tastosis.

Exactly my thoughts. Kind of lost interest in watching now, as there already is a GSL. I watch other tournaments because I really like watching 'foreigners' square off. While I certainly get that all tournaments strive to display the highest levels of skill, it does make it fairly bland if every time the final 16 are (the same) Koreans. I don't think they should ban Koreans from entering or anything, but I do feel closer to players like Ret, Huk, WhiteRa, Stephano, Sheth, Destiny, Catz, Tyler etcetera, which makes for a more enjoyable viewing experience. To see favorites like that snuffed out by the 5th or 6th Korean they have to face in the tournament is off-putting, especially if they played amazing to get to that point.

I think it's mostly due to the fact that seeing a player overcome their struggles is more interesting than watching surgical machines shredder their next victim :p
The rivalries that are starting to pop up between the top players are somewhat interesting though.

I wouldn't quite call the Korean players "surgical machines" - there's a lot of emotions involved there too, even if they might play with precision and be more reserved. (Well, some of them. I don't think, after MC just walked over and took his trophy, that anyone can say all Koreans are emotionless.) But there is something to what you're saying - I think that's one of the things that made Scarlett's run one of the big day 1 storylines.

Still looking forward to Day 2 and the GSTL finals. MKP fighting!

Well you got a point there but we can't blame the Koreans for being so damn good in this game.
Foreigners have to step up their game as the gap is just getting wider and wider.
Play your best

This tournament is much better than MLG. The games are all awesome, with so many great players. In MLG there are a lot of bad games because so many bad players qualifies.

Yeah I agree guys!

I totally want to see the more foreigners in tournaments than their more hardworking and therefore more deserving Korean counterparts!

I mean, why the heck would I want to watch the best players in the world when I can watch under performing foreigners?

Seriously... come on people.

Can't wait for this to start!

Exactly. If there are only 3 or 4 people able to compete with koreans, everybody else should ask themselves if they really put in enough time and effort. Because I don't think that koreans are genetically predisposed for pro gaming.
Also I'm curious as to when Chinese pro gamers will flood the market....

Why are people whining about it being korean dominated really. I much rather watch high level games then foreigner games full of mistakes. Of course ideally those high levle games would include foreigners but save a few they are just not up to the same level now. Seeing stephano do well would be great but I don't see him getting further then becoming second in his group and going out quickly afterwards.

Third in the group means you're eliminated, so that's not something you should be hoping for!

Maybe never, DotA 2 and LoL is really putting their money in China. But that's another topic.

Foreigners won't ever live the lifestyle that Korean progamers have, because it's horrible. Once you've experience the luxury of western society you can't go back, at least not go back 100%.
