There are such things as off days. Regardless, "best SC2 player in the world" is such a volatile concept that I feel everyone should really be very careful when trying to apply it to someone.

Anyone else notice when Zergs go Ultralisk first, they tend to lose? Maybe vs pure mech its ok, but that unit wont be where it needs to be until HOTS. Its painful to watch. : (

it works well against players, who stand there and take the damage, or who have wasted a bunch of armies on attacks/drops/harass/bad defence; but against those turtle Terran styles that every high level Korean plays with good positioning and very slow pushes, Ultras just don't work; not enough surface area when fighting bigger armies

I'm not sure if DRG is still the best ZvT player. He used to be, but he looked weak against Gumiho in the recent GSL semis, and in all his three recent finals that he lost, he lost to a terran. Most of his recent victories are against Protoss and Zerg, I think. Or perhaps it's just that Zerg has problems against terrans. July resurging is always a sign the match-up is in flux. :o

Who exactly would be better?

I've always felt Korean zvt has been lacking. Even since Dream Hack Valencia when DRG barely beat Thorzain I felt his zvt wasn't special.

I honestly thing foreign zergs are more advanced in zvt. Stephano and Ret have very different styles than DRG, for example, and I think DRG would have more success with those.

Theres also a lot of Zergs in Code A/B I feel have superior styles to DRG.

Lol. No. Just no.

Stephano - Huge losing record vs Polt in Polt's worst matchup. Barely played any other recent ZvT's vs Koreans but lost 2-0 to Sound and MKP at HSC3 and lost that Bo1 to MVP.

Ret - Apparently beating MVP 2-1 once makes up for losing the overwhelming majority of his ZvT's vs Koreans. Hell he even has recorded loses to Goody and Thorzain in best of series and you're considering him comparable to DRG and Leenock?

DRG and Leenock still have the best ZvT even if DRG played terribly today.

stephano losing to mkp at hsc3 matters but winning vs mkp at eswc does not? not saying that stephano is top zvter because hes not but picking statistics this way is unfair

No. It's perfectly fair. HSC3 was this year, it is semi recent and thus somewhat relevant.

ESWC was six months ago and thus has no relevance.

to be frank all of those statistics doesnt prove anything, small sample size to determine a shit, most zergs play eco secured wins, drg picks good build that secures him an eco win, later someone comes up with couter build and current "stable" top zvter looks hopeless simple as that, dont need to delve into statistics or jetlagged or not.

Leenock at his recent prime was really playing a flaweless toe to toe zvt unlike 90% of other top zergs, nothing i saw from drg made me change my mind. He just had good builds at the moment and he needs to tweak them to the current terran builds.

Im still waiting for a zerg that plays toe to toe zvt, pure mechanic style, a'la Leenock without his slumps.

I agree on that it is a very risky thing to say. But I think most people though he was the best player inn the world before MLG, but after being pretty much devistated by MKP, and now showing some really poor games inn Code S i don't think he is the best inn the world. and quite far from it.. which is sad because i love DRG
Life isn't hard, we just suck at it.

MVP was more successful than Nestea in 2011. He was the most successful player in 2011.
