GSL World Championship is a happy memory since White-Ra vs MC wasn't a troll PvP. No arguing that MC wasn't outplayed.
I think it's finally time to admit it might not be the year of Pet

I feel like this must be a troll. Winning with a one base warp prism all in in PvP will never be outplaying anyone.

Did MC outplay White Ra when he built gateways in the fog and won Dreamhack?

Don't count White-Ra out.

A best of one PvP coinflip all in has very little to do with winning in a PvZ best of 9.

Have you seen the game? I know PvP is usually a coinflip but that one certainly wasn't. White-Ra's BO was better in that situation but MC had close position 4gate and it came down to White-Ra out-microing MC.

But yeah, that doesn't have much to say about a PvZ

Well he didn't coinflip allin, and this was when MC was the best player in the world by a pretty clear margin.
I mean I agree that BO9 is going to be significantly harder for the underdog, but it wouldn't be the first time White-Ra has surprised people before.
This being said, I don't think he will win, I just would not be surprised at all if it was a hell of a lot closer than people are expecting.

Stephano is heavily favored against ANY non-Korean right now. White-Ra has had good matches him in the past though, should is fun.

Personally I'm hoping White-Ra pulls out a miracle -- he's such a cool guy. And as someone closer to WhiteRa'ss age myself, I like seeing that you don't have to retire from Starcraft at such a ridiculously young age.

A Warp Prism 4 gate all in in PvP (especially pre all the 4 gate nerfs and warp in nerfs) is about as risky as it gets. It's a coinflip.

That's fine because everyone does those kind of massive risky builds in PvP it's part of the matchup, but don't pretend it's some super skill based build.

You should also remember that old warp prisms were made of glass so there was a huge chance his warp prism gets shot down and he auto loses.

White Ra took a huge risk, he won a best of one. The end.

i can't believe the community didn't vote for naniwa vs stephano. those 2 are the best foreigners without a doubt and naniwa has wins against top zergs against nestea. it would have perfect esp since they haven't played each other in a long time.

this however, will just be a stomp...

Who to root for? The grandpa toss that absolutely noone can hate or stephano who has undeniably the sickest skills?

Stephano had been making awesome players like Puma look like Master league -- it's going to a tough one for White Ra.

while naniwa is certainly the "better" player, again, especially in terms of consistency, I for one would already be in bed and not hoarding hills of junkfood on my desk, sitting with a dozen people in Teamspeak eagerly awaiting the match, instead of watching naniwa and stephano duke it out.
No offense, but for a "top level" showmatch get DRG and MC or Genius or whatever, so you get your every GSL day high level play.
But White-Ra? That's a game of chance. He either demolishes or gets demolished. He CAN beat everybody I'm quite sure of that, just not consitantely. So he makes for a MUCH MUCH more entertaining contender for a showmatch if you ask my humble opinion. In fact there is NO ONE I enjoy watching more then him.

Plus, I don't like probe rushes
I figured out the EG Curse. It was set in motion by Voodoo Shamans working for Millenium. Whenever EG aquires a player, Voodoo energies start slowly draining skill from the EG guy into an Millenium newcomer. Think about it!

He didn't 4-gate, MC did. MC pushed up his ramp with superior forces and White-Ra would have lost if he hadn't played the situation better. Even though White-Ra went 3-gate robo MC got up the ramp and focused the immortals, making them irrelevant. White-Ra's prism was sniped as well. I certainly don't think White-Ra is the better player overall, but I do think that he outplayed MC fair and square.

He didn't use it to allin, though, he used it to harass MC's probe line while MC was allining HIM.

It wasn't a coinflip, he knew that MC wasn't doing the most aggressive 4gate, because he saw MC's third pylon go down, and with most aggressive 4gate the 3rd pylon is a forward pylon. based on that he knew he had time to get out a warp prism, and by the time MC got to his base he had a sentry out, and he even botched the forcefield, and still microed well enough to win in his base, WHILE doing damage to MC's economy.
his opening was not a coinflip, and he did not do a warp prism assited 4gate allin.

I'm in the same boat. I'd love to see our friend from the Eastern Bloc take it, but Stephano has played so well lately.
