In regards to Idra, you can extrapolate how unlikely it would be for Idra to win, but that game wasn't clearly over. Maybe Sheth doesn't attack into Idra's base right away, maybe he backs off, maybe he makes a mistake - those possibilities make it worth staying in the game. By leaving early, you gain nothing, by waiting to see if it's truly over you're unlikely to gain anything, but it's possible - this seems obvious.

You have a bit of a point with the lag, but nobody is going to take you seriously when you express yourself like such a fanboy.

when liquid didnt want to deal with lag they didnt agree to enter leagues, so it was a non issue. if you enter the league you agree to put up with its conditions. sheth just outplayed everyone tonight, no excuses.

That doesn't make any sense. Agreeing to put up with a disadvantage doesn't mean it isn't a disadvantage...it just means that you're willing to put up with it for a chance at overcoming that disadvantage.

your just arguing my point for me. if EG are willing to put up with it, so should the fan boys.

Again, putting up with it doesn't make the disadvantage go away. It's not excuse, it's a fact that cross-server lag is bad.

Remember TSL3? When Goody beat Nestea and AdelScott beat MVP playing cross-server? You wouldn't call that an even playing field, corect? Goody and Adelscott weren't definitively better players, but they were good enough players to win with that advantage.

My point isn't that it's *unfair* for EG to have to play in bad conditions given that they agreed to those conditions. My point IS that it is completely asinine to try to draw any kind of conclusions about which team is better based on these results. I'm addressing the torrent of people screaming, "wow, EG's so pathetic for getting AK'd by Sheth!"

You don't know if micro was a factor, maybe Sheth was just superior in every one of those games. The only facts we have to draw conclusions from is that Sheth all-killed EG. Was it lag? Was it superior play? Who knows for sure, but saying, 'It was laggy, that's why EG lost' is stupid.

Seems silly not to consider the lag, though. When a Zerg killer like JYP can't hit Force Fields, or a micro intensive player like Puma has zero micro, or a Zerg like Idra faceplants ling-bling micro, it's obvious that all three players were affected by something.

Idra just started a larvae inject full of drones when sheth decided to attack with lings. He had no way of responding to that so he left before the lings got to his base.

I'll admit that that Idra was 99% dead there. But still, most players would at least try to defend with drones. In fact pulling workers to defend an overwhelming attack is how most games end, even in the GSL.

Agreed. But thats not the whole picture. Its not just that he is disrespecting the viewers, he is disrespecting his team. Thats not about bad manner anymore, its just sad.

Thats a bit of an overreaction, what difference wouldit have made if he waited and extra 30 seconds for all of his drones to die?

I really dont think the situation was that severe..

He left game when Sheth had 15 lings and IdrA had zero lings but IdrA could have easily pulled drones and/or blocked the ramp and had a spine crawler at his natural.

1 queen and drones can delay long enough for more lings to come out.

Also i believe IdrA had a baneling and about 4-6 more workers than Sheth.

So he would lose all his drones to the lings? He just finished a production cycle of drones too...
The game was over.

Both teams have players in Korea/US/Europe . . . Hero, Zenio, Jinro, Haypro all in Korea etc. Sheth played vs. MKP last time and lost definitively. MKP is in Korea.

Yeah there may have been some lag issues regarding micro, but Sheth show'd overall better strategy and builds in his games. Lag doesn't have anything to do with decision-making and good timings.

you could see that baneling die in the screen corner when the lings of sheth suddenly came into view near the gold, i so want to know how it died, since the gg followed up right after it. (and i didn't notice any sheth stuff around that bane)

It's not obvious though, players lose to other players regardless to skill, it doesn't have to be due to lag. What's silly is to say, 'JYP is better than Sheth, therefore if Sheth wins it must be because JYP was affected by lag' - shit happens. I'm not saying lag wasn't a factor, I'm saying we can't know, all we know is that Sheth won convincingly.

he was in a real shit position, but you could tell from the start of the game his heart wasnt in it. the moment he saw sheth had gone hatch first i knew idra 'felt behind' so he would basically give us. went for an all in which got found. sheth holds easily due to idra not even trying to defend his banelings, even though the supplies were only like 10 apart, it was like 2 lings vs 22 in play or so, so idra was effectively dead.

i used to be a real big idra fan boy but this was still sad. i liked him because of his 'im good so ill let my play do the talking' attitude, but if your gonna have that attitude you actually have to play, going emo or leaving early means your fans dont actually get to see you play. idra on form, think g1 vs mc at mlg, is some of the best starcraft you will ever see. idra in lazymode is some of the most boring crap, you never know what your gonna get.

TL seems to love opening with Sheth, and it really worked this time. Very impressive... though on the other hand very disappointing for EG. The matchup should be much closer.

ZvZ is a horrible match up. If you get banes into the enemies base, it's pretty much GG.

And people that go "Sheth is soo good!", I for one am really disappointed that there was not more from him.
Not trying to go for a longer game or anything, no, just run in and end it.

Since it is like that, I am going to say if it would have been a Macro game VS Idra, he would have lost, which is why he did it.

I don't think you understand Starcraft at all, if you think Sheth was the one making that game end early.

Well, after the attack on Machine's drones, what else was he supposed to do?

If you mean Idra's game, yeah we all know Idra. I knew how that was gonna end.

Sheth was doing Machine a favor by ending his misery early. And your first post said nothing about Machine and only about Idra. Idra was the one that opened with speedings while Sheth went hatch. You really don't understand Starcraft...

I never said that is why they lost, I said it is a disadvantage and certainly a contributing factor. If you read my post, my whole point is that it is stupid to try to draw conclusions from that match, or any match played cross server unless you honestly believe that Goody and AdelScott were the best players in the world at one point.

Instead of coming to a conclusion based on weak evidence, why not just avoid trying to jump to conclusions and be happy Liquid won?
