Just some feedback but next time I don't think the CSL Regional should have been hosted the same days as the Pro-Invitational tournament.
The CSL Tournament seemed to hinder the Pro Invitational, and really felt like it was suffering throughout. The massive delays between games was quite saddening.
Semi's were done around 6:00~? and the finals were played after 11:00+?. Seems a bit extreme, and this really did tend to happen a lot between CSL matches. While there we were faced with waiting for hours on end for matches. Was also disappointed the finals between UNT and UT was streamed on a secondary stream and late at night when most USA viewers would be sleeping...
Of course you also have the negative backlash from the community, constantly berating CSL players and teams for "being bad" and not "being Stephano vs so-and-so".
Either way I did have a good time, especially meeting and chatting with all those other CSL players the night before in the hotel who stopped by to hang out (shout outs to all those CSL teams and non-CSL teams that came out)

I agree with snipe. It was really cool to meet players from both CSL and Pro scene, but we were constantly belittled by a lot of the sponsor staff. Pro or not, I dislike being treated like trash at my home university.
The local staff team in this student ran tournament was Very professional, though I would expect more from the people who were sent by our sponsors.

Would love to see one of these go down at The University Of Kentucky.

Just watched the first bo3 of Stephano vs Polt then their bo5....and it was amazing. I will never say Stephano is overhyped anymore (not that I said that often, I4m french after all :p). They both played so well, Stephano's ling micro is awesome (game 3 of their bo3 on B.beach, vs hellion marauders he micros so well, sending lings then when Polt micro his hellions to attack them, he retreats only the lings so the hellion get hit by roaches...there was zerg micro ( bad micro), but Stephano has terran micro in him !) The crowd was sick too, awesome event.

Polt + MVP ghost control = Best player on earth? Mvp doesn't use ghost anymore in late game TvZ because they are shit now (except vs infestors but they are expensive so probably not cost effective enough to build them for that purpose only), see Mvp vs Symbol from Iron Squid. But I agree, Polt's ghost use in TvP is not the best we have seen he would be really scary in TvP if he had a Byun-like ghost control / usage, I don't think it matters in TvZ though. I'm both happy that Stephano won another event and sad that Polt lost. Gimme terran a lategame capable army blizzard if now even Polt loses to Stephano :/ User was warned for this post why was this post given a warning? Because I had some bans for balance whining in the past and they thought this time I balance - whined but I was not judging if the ghost nerf should have been or not I just stated that right now the ghost has no real utility in TvZ after the nerf. So basically a misinterpretation actually you also got it wrong, MVP still uses ghosts against zerg. He used it in the last GSTL Didn't he lost this game? So the main point - ghost being bad now remains, if even Mvp can't make it work against code A zergs as he used to in the past. MVP was very far behind going into the midgame, and even more so going into the lategame. That was not a game where you could accurately judge the effectiveness of ghosts. Ya that is not a good game to judge that. It doesn't change the fact that ghosts are pretty bad against everything now except infestors. Terrans need to figure out something that can deal with broodlord/corruptor/infestors. Maybe a mix of ghost/raven/marine/viking? I don't really think its that feasible but maybe. broodlords aren't usable in every map, just like ultras. Some terrans like MMA never even used ghosts against T3 zerg. we have seen quite a few terrans just doing mass drops to take out key tech etc.

I should have looked at the schedule and immediately changed it so that you guys had your games all played before 2pm and had the rest of the day free. I also should have advocated harder for the CSL teams. Whether I take part in the next Tespa event or not I will make sure this criticism is taken into account. I was super busy during the event but that is no excuse for not taking proper care of you guys. It won't happen again

yeah it kinda sucked having to play CSL matches so late. Everyone on both teams were clearly way too tired to play their best so even though the matches were streamed, they were pretty bad. I think the finals finally ended sometime at like 1-2AM after being at the venue around 7-8AM
Regardless, I had a great time at the lone star clash/CSL event, it was awesome seeing polt play and thank you to the organizers for a great tournament

This issue was a giant headache throughout the entire weekend.
How do we retain the massive viewer numbers we were receiving, (albeit unexpectedly) while incorporating CSL matches?
What is the best way to incorporate collegiate matches into the main stream schedule?
We knew that most people were watching this tournament because of the big name pro players involved. I am pretty sure most people would agree with me on that point.
There was also the stream schedule to consider. How upset would pro players be if we made them wait a couple of hours to play their matches in a $10,000 tournament? How upset would viewers be if we made them wait for Stephano vs Polt while streaming a collegiate match? How could we justify injecting collegiate matches in the main stream schedule when we were already a tad far behind schedule for the main stream in the first place?
I realize a main idea of this tournament was to incorporate collegiate and pro matches in the same atmosphere. We accomplished this to a certain extent but perhaps not optimally.
We ended up having a dedicated stream to CSL matches (Stream 3) and having another stream cast those matches when not casting pro matches (2nd stream) and incorporating collegiate matches if possible if time permitted in the main stream.
As far as day 2, we were fairly far behind schedule considering we added another game into the schedule early on (Select vs Heavens). The plan for the collegiate final literally changed throughout the day and I apologize for this. At first we had it before the grand final on the main stage. Then we had it after the grand final and before state of the game. It was finally decided it was going to be played at the same time as state of the game following the grand final, (casted by Grubby and myself on the 2nd stream). And again we desperately wanted to put it on the main stage and on the main stream, but time just would not allow it.
Anyway hopefully this insight was helpful and we are definitely open to suggestions.
Next time I think we plan on incorporating a lot more CSL+Pro things, like showmatches or monobattles pros vs csl or something like that.

I was going to, but it was a new tournament, very grass roots, with a very weird talent pool that could have fell flat and had no one watching. If there is a Lone Star Clash #2, I'll be covering it definitely for the site. This was my favorite tournament (well, besides Assembly but that's mostly due to Polt winning) of the year not including GSL so far.

It's just the fact that like Snipe said, we are paired up with professionals, they're getting priority, and probably more *wow*s than us. I'm just hoping that the staff team from our sponsors treats all the Players at equal level in the future. It's really unfair that just because we play in CSL that we get 2nd class treatments.

Just have to say this was a very well run tourney from a spectator perspective. It's surprising to see a tourney run this smooth from a rookie crew. Seemed like they have been doing it for years. Also, really enjoyed the Stephano vs. Polt games. Those guys are just on another level.

Does anyone know if there was any coverage of this event on the Korean scene? I'm just curious if Play.xp or someone picked it up.

any chance to post the replays somewhere ? People can learn alot from replays, more than from vods, especially because the tournament had so many professional players and epic battles. thanks

Any matches worth watching ? I couldn't watch the winners and loser bracket finals.

Watch the winner bracket finals. These games were incredibly good.
