That's literally all it took, he would have won easily if he just put those extractors down. Polt being a better player than Violet doesn't mean his win in this series was well deserved. Well, let's see. Violet moves out with his entire army and plows through all of Polt's bases and production, while Polt decides to counterattack and kill all of Violet's bases and production. Since Violet's army is on the other side of the map, he cannot do anything about it (plus being supply-blocked). He has his entire army spread out across one side of the map and does not focus on killing the bases + SCVs, allowing Polt to constantly build more stuff whenever he fails to hold a position. Even if he builds extractors he would still have a slow army that relies on synergy to be effective, so he cannot split his army to deal with the small groups of marines. A basketball player can have good handles, a quick first step, great court vision, and great body control. But if he can't finish at the basket then he is not going to score, no matter how athletic and intelligent he is. It doesn't matter if he can blow past the hedge or post up effectively on his defender, whether the guy guarding him can't move well to his left or defensively finish. The guy who deserves the win is the one who can perform in the clutch, and Polt well-deserves it. | ||
