I've just randomly distributed the participants over 16 groups and will send each of the groups an e-mail. The groups have also been published on the website - check it out.
Time for this tournament to get going!

The casts are in Dutch, by the way - so not everyone might be able to enjoy them...

There's just one other guy in his group instead of two, because there were some players who couldn't make it. So that means he automatically advances to the next stage. The other player is some guy called Naniwa btw. Never heard of him..., but atleast he's not a top 8 Code S Korean! Anyway, let's cheer for Patjuh in Stockholm this weekend! GL!

![]() Anyway: he's done a 4-0 sweep in his group in the NSSL, so he's definitely one of those advancing to the next group stages. I sure hope that over the next fiew days a lot of results will come in, because so far still just over 50% of the games have been played! It's probably because of the participant's student-mentality - but for the next group stage I might have to get a bit more strict with the deadlines... There've been plenty of webcasts by the way! 45 best-of-three series have been commentated so far. A lot more than I imagined we'd be able to do! Big thanks to those who stepped in to help, particularly Rannasha who's casted about half of them!

I've been pushing my friend to play his matches from the beginning, but he still did only one (might have done 2 yesterday, didn't talk to him yet) but it's way too slow in any case

But they were hard fought indeed! Both games turned into a sick base-trade scenario.I hope that this weekend a lot of games will be played - and I'm confident they will. Pretty soon I'll announce the Tactical Brilliance Award - with a VERY special prize - to motivate the players even more.

Also: important new developments regarding gaming research! A research group from the Radboud University is studying the beneficial effects of playing computer games like StarCraft, so they were quite exited when the NSSL kicked off. We're now working together to give the tournament some academic flavor! ![]() If there are ANY StarCraft players here who want to help with the research, you can do so by filling out the survey. But there's a cooler option: they actually want people to come into their lab to play a game of StarCraft while their heart rate is measured If there are any people here that live near Nijmegen and would like to help out, go to the StarCraft & Science page on the website: http://nssl.nl/starcraft-science. All the info about how to sign-up is there. Of you participate you'll get to help positive gaming research AND get the chance to win a pre-order of Heart of the Swarm or a GOMtv.net season ticket. For science!

We have a new award for creative tactical play: the Tactical Brilliance Award! We hope it will inspire players to come up with awesome tactics, and we think it will because there is a very special prize associated with the award: a mousepad signed by TLO! A friend of mine had a mousepad signed by TLO at DreamHack last winter, but it had mysteriously disappeared from his computer the next day Fortunately TLO signed another mousepad for him! But once back in The Netherlands it turned out that someone had found the original mousepad, so we're now using it to inspire awesome plays in the NSSL ![]() Do come to the finals to see who wins the award, and you could also win an award yourself for best cheerful ![]()

Some awesome games so far, I'm really getting exited for the RO16 and the rest of the play-offs. One of the reasons is of course that I'll be in the RO16 myself ![]()
