Thanks for adding that the thread. No possible shitstorm can possibly arise from this statement. It was 1 GSL Champion, singular. Just to make that clear. who would be surprised by it? those who don't really know about bw of course. do we really need to pander to the ignorant? eventually more bw pros will switch over and these people will have to learn the truth. if they thought big but old names from bw didn't do well and thus bw is not all that special, they were wrong. and the sooner they correct that wrong impression the better. modern bw competition is just insane, even relative to the old days. appreciate this level of skill seems to be the only way going forward. Do you HONESTLY think that not one single person who didn't play BW in current sc2 practices the same amount? Do you also think that not one of those people who practices a ton and has a great mindset also has the mechanics that they could have succeeded in BW? Will top BW players have an advantage over some? Obviously due to mechanics and their already regimented training. Does that guarantee that every top player will be a top player of BW? I'll let your delusional self decide that. But its already decided amongst people who love BW and dont enjoy sc2 so yah... perhaps you should go back to watching BW while its still around.

Shit. Today made me sad.
Except for FORGG <3

Polt had a sizable build order advantage against ForGG in the second game, and ForGG still outproduced Polt by a good amount. I'm not one of those who hypes former BW pros to the high heavens, but the series wasn't close by any measure. The mechanical difference between the two players was glaringly obvious.
ForGG's mechanics...just too good.

My thoughts exactly, couldn't have said it better. fOrGG was very impressive. Also poor JYP got absolutely smashed, like painfully so

i would think forgg would the most skilled bw pro in sc2, maybe hyun once he gets going. so the performance and results of forgg would be a good indicator of what the current bw pros may achieve /if/ they switched over.
of course there's a chance that by the time they do switch they would have lost a lot of their capabilities, ala july/nada/boxer

Polt had great ideas but his macro wasn't what it should be.
That resulted in a convincing victory for Fin.
I think recently (not all players, but majority) GSL players prefer tactics over mechanics and maybe that is why they holding off on producing units non-stop.
TOP, SuperNova and even Jinro had very strong results when their game was oriented on making units non-stop no matter what.
Maybe it's just Polt who didn't have a good day, but for me it seems that lots of GSL players focus too much on that one crushing engagement and macro falling off their priority list.
Simply outproduced.

I'm not sure, but hasn't macro always been Polt's weak point?

Pretty sure that Macro is basically all that polt has

His only strong point during the time he was getting results was his understanding of the game and TvP/TvT at the time, plus preparation. He's mechanically average at best.
You can't bank on that to give you any kind long term success.

Polt was focused on macro in game 2 and was doing a damn good job until he completely fell apart. Hard to macro when you have siege tanks and banshees just destroying your scv count. His poor response to the banshees + not pulling scvs from nat in time from tanks + fail drop into siege tank range was sad to watch. Seen Polt play SO much better than that.

Goddammit Clide why did you lose
Just about the nicest guy in the GSL and he couldn't catch a break. Oh well, at least he's in the up and downs!

Artosis cursed him to the max

ForGG WOWWWWWWWWWW that was some cool tvt.

I ragequit the internet last night after + Show Spoiler [proleague spoiler] + and totally forgot fOrGG played last night. Game 1 was quite nice. He kept his momentum going the whole game and showed smooth micro and macro throughout. Guess I need to go update his fanclub.
Seeker don't listen to the haters. Your OP is awesome. Maybe put the polls in spoilers if you feel it's too long but don't cater to the humorless and the lazy.

Haha, thanks red4ce. I did put my polls in spoilers though, it made it look much cleaner. I honestly don't mind when ppl give me feedback, because in the end, it just helps me become a better LR thread maker
