Comebacks can happen really quickly, as you see now :p

Can he get 9 frags in 2 and a half minutes?

actually comebacks are possible it only depends on the map. On aggressive ones u can get 10 frags in a blink of an eye i remember several from cooller IEM matches...

I see, so it seems like quake can be a game of momentum, or am I off base on that assumption?

They had a TDM tournament also,

I've really enjoyed Dreamhack streams so far as I play or played about every game they had there. Good to see oldies still going strong and even BLC still alive (didn't expect it to survive after their initial purchase plan and all those medallion tweaks etc.)

Wow even hero 3-1ed Ret. DRG really should have won this tournament.

in which way is the on related to the other?

Hero's zvp is really good beating a lot of good zergs snd making it look easy. DRG 2-0ed hero the other day and he's been on top of his game in terms of map awareness, scouting, map presence, reads of people. If you look at his actual losses no one's been able to contest him in a "real game" (i.e. his failed cheeses, and a brilliant all in/snipe by puma). He would've had Nightend left and he would've had a rematch with Hero.

I used to think the extreme quake 3 bots were better then any player. Anyone that thinks they were good at quake 3 can see they really are not compared to these guys,

You're correct. When you have map control you can get kills very very fast.

I've never watched this before and certainly can't see myself playing it (way too fast paced for me to cope with, I think, BF3 feels fast to me!), but this seems way more of a spectator sport than, say, SF.

Which tournaments/streams would people recommend for someone not very familiar with the game?
Check out esreality.com. Altough i haven;t played for a few months i think it's still safe to say the competitive scene is slowly dying. Check it out at quakelive.com! Mind you, the game is free! And you are matched with players at your level.

The amount of ignorance and disrespect in regards to Quake in the stream chat makes me want to kill myself. Come on, guys.
