Their casting has no strategic depth whatsoever. They are shoutcasting, which is great, but there needs to be someone who can explain the finer points of the game to the ignorant audience like me, or I am not compelled to find out more about it. Shame. It's such a fast paced game that you really need to know what's going on to understand the casters. They did try and explain vortexes at the start. I'll try and explain a little bit (I'm not any good but I can hold my own online.. Not that that means anything) Every attack has startup frames, active frames and recovery frames. During the recovery frames you cannot block, so you can't just blindly spam attacks that have high recovery frames, instead you have to use safe attacks (usually light hits) that can combo into harder specials. A combo itself does good damage but the main thing is knocking your opponent down. When they're knocked down, you can do unsafe moves that would normally not be viable. The knocked down player has to guess which attack is coming and if he guesses wrong, he'll be knocked down again (very fast paced). This becomes a sort of loaded guessing game where the attacker has the advantage in odds. Also, timing is a huge part of the game. Example: There are combos that have 1 frame links. You have one frame (1/60th of a second) to continue your combo (there exists a technical exploit that everyone uses called plinking which gives an extra 1 frame). If you miss this link then you will drop your combo and your opponent can and will punish you for it. I haven't even gone into zoning (fireballs) and charge characters, but yeah this is pretty much the basics.

I'm glad most of our community doesn't support shitty eSports like LoL, this notion that you have to support any game under the banner of 'eSports' is just ridiculous You can justify anything under the guise of e-sports. It's pretty sad actually ![]() I think the problem is a lot of people don't try to hide it under esport, but some people actually respect that despite what other people think, players of other games are HIGHLY dedicated, HIGHLY skilled, and work just as hard as most starcraft players, but instead of people showing them respect, they shit on the in the name of "x game isn't skill based", guess what? the same attitude applies when people see starcraft for the first time, and wonder what the hell is going on. it is downright disrespectful, and if people have it problem with it instead of spamming the forum about how "shit" x game is, just don't say anything at all. Exactly. You don't need to like the game, or even watch it. But being an asshole and acting like the game doesn't take skill and is shit is just being an asshole. Dreamhack is showing finals on this stream, everyone knew this. Dreamhack isn't just an sc2 tournament.

Shame. Fighters move way too fast for a lot of analysis. They were pointing out strategic moves, talking about a good read or pointing out specific hard combos that the players pulled off. However, since an entire 3 round game of SF is shorter than the opening 5 minutes of nothing happening in a SC2 game you should be able to see why they can't do a lot of analysis. In SC2 there is a lot of "downtime" where they are just mining, building, etc and the casters can really examine everything. In SF one player pulls an amazing strategic move and 4 seconds later the other player does one, and 2 seconds later there is a counter or a grab and bam the round is over. There isn't downtime to talk about what is going on.

OMG! People like different things! HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE! It doesn't matter what you like. It's a matter of respecting fellow gamers. Yeah its the lack of respect that bothers me. How is this community supposed to grow if we look like the youtube commenters of the Esports world? Why can't someone just tune out and come back if they don't like it without being a dick? Its not that hard. Or maybe just give the game a chance? Dicks are also allowed to love SC ;-)
