When you have the massive lead Idra has, lowering your drone count and getting broodlords, is the best option. With broods AND spines Nestea cant do anything, since he was so far behind.

I agree, but Idra was holding an advantage going into the late game after destroying Nestea's first army. Hence, he banked up a lot more money due to having more economy/maxing earlier, I presume. If that extra money isn't being spent on tech or extra larvae production, it has no value.

This is a different tournament, the MLG Global Invitational, these are the semifinals.
The MLG Pro Circuit National Championship games are also being played, and Idra/Nestea/MvP/Naniwa will all be playing in that according to their seeding/brackets.
