I'd be very happy if MaNa, Sjow or Strelok won in New York. I do agree that I'd love to see MaNa, Sjow, or Strelok win, the NY lineup is significantly weaker than IEM China. Puma/idra/dimaga/jyp/Hasu are all significantly better than almost every player at IEM NY (Strelok and Elfi are eliminated because they're in both)

Still, IMMVP complained in his interview that the players were not informed of this new format, so many players are saddened and disappointed that they won't be participating anymore. Oh, and the prize pool was reduced significantly too. Such a shame.

And unless someone in the top 13ish wins a GSL this month or the next, the third place will probably go to Polt. Unless somehow MKP makes a deep run next month.

Curious as to the motivation behind the changes. old format was retarded. winning a single matchup shouldnt win you a "world championship" with 10 strong players. and none of the qualified players are going to be "token foreigners", they are going to be winners of major LANs that included anywhere from a few to many strong Koreans. MVP and Nestea are almost certainly going to take 1-2 in rankings, and there is a very high chance MVP grabs a few of the other criteria slots anyways. Its going to end up being a tournament with MVP, Nestea, and Stephano combined with the winners of some huge tourneys and probably slots 3-5 in the GSL point system.

MKP would only have to do 400 points better than Polt, which isn't farfetched at all. And keep in mind that there will likely be 1-2 double ups, so it may go 1-4.

IF you are seeded first, I don't see why you can't have just one Bo7 to secure your claim. I saw the Blizzard Cup as end of year bonus payment with the matches just as a last chance for players to change their ranking. Meh. I just really wanted to see format cause it's different from everything else and creates great potential storylines. Imagine the #10 ranked climbing to 1st. Or MKP going through Nestea, Polt, and MC, just to lose to MVP in the end.

That someone else will likely be IdrA (winner of IEM + they'd be crazy not to invite him). There will probably be 3 slots taken by MVP lol

MVP/Nestea will take up both spots because he earned it. If it becomes MVP vs MVP final, he will get 2 computers and play a TvT. Atleast that won't be as one-sided as the last GSL finals.

- 1st and 2nd place of MLG Providence (2) - Winner of IEM NYC (1) - Winner of IPL Season 3 (1) - Winner of DreamHack Winter (1) - Winner of Blizzcon (1) - Winner of WCG (1) I'm going to guess..Hmm> Top 3 GSL - MVP/Nestea/MC which would soon be changed into MC/Polt/MKP IPL - Stephano Blizzcon - MVP or Nestea WCG - Nestea or MVP MLG - Bomber /MMA IEM - DRG Dreamhack - uhh..some random korean mentioned above leading to the invite of IdrA or White-Ra or.some surprise entry turns out to be Leenock/LosirA and they join.. So ultimately.. MVP Nestea Stephano Polt MC DRG MMA Bomber MKP and then one of the last remaining signees being a complete random and toss up. I LIKE.

Looks like we could see MC in action if he pass polt in the next GSL. Come on MC!

However, I wish they had added in other Champions prior to just this month. I mean, Dreamhack Summer should be considered if Winter is. IEM New York is being taken into account, so why not Guangzhou which only took place 2(?) weeks before New York. It probably has something to do with scheduling and it'll still be an awesome tourney anyways.

With MC back in Code S, the race for spot #3 could be interesting. It'll be interesting to see who they invite + on what basis if MVP/Nestea end up winning Blizzcon or MLG also in MVP's case.
