Having obsessively watched Steph stream ladder games recently (been playing R so looking to learn more about non-T races) I'm really interested in seeing how he actually plays come the tournament itself. I mean, there's a ton of stuff he does on his stream like mass ling, mass roach/queen etc that beats people on the ladder, but I'm presuming in a serious tournament setting he'll actually utilise the transitions he has available to him.
Mostly interested in seeing how his vP works since that seems to have been his achilles heel recently. I'm suspecting there'll be mutas.

I dunno, the difference between playing Puma and playing Machine in the first round of the actual knockout tournament is pretty big?

There's a countdown in the upper right of the site header.
Unfortunately I'll be missing the HuK and Stephano games due to football practice, I hope the VODs are up quickly.
Also I do think that the seeding makes a world of a difference. There are not that many really good players playing in the Open Bracket, so there will be a huge skill difference between the first and the last seed from the Open Bracket. If you win your group it basically almost ensures you that you'll make it to the next round and earn double the money.

He has had some good tournaments and some bad tournaments, but at the end of the day he's still a Code S player (Ro8 last season, and given that people still bring up Idra's Ro8 finish ~8 months ago as proof of his skill that isn't to be sniffed at) with some big results in foreign tournaments (including being the highest placed foreigner at the last MLG). Though admittedly he said he didn't care about the pools and wouldn't be straining himself in them, so maybe that has something to do with it? First round exits in Assembly, IEM cologne, and Dreamhack. Yeah he got to ro8 GSL but who did he beat? Sangho and NaDa. Not exactly godlike. This season he lost twice to virus. Seems like he just gets by in GSL by getting lucky/picking people with horrible vP.
Everybody knows the travel schedule he had for those bad tournament finishes he had, and if people try to say that travel fatigue is an excuse then they've obviously never flown to another continent.
He also finished as the top foreigner in MLG Raleigh in the middle of those, which for some reason people seem to disregard. Everyone gave Sjow props for finishing 8th but seem to forget who 2-0'ed him for 7th.
Also HuK is undefeated in his NASL group, which considering the latency disadvantage is also impressive, but I can see how that gets overlooked because it's an online league and doesn't have as many viewers as last season.
Frankly I believe HuK is still a top foreigner, it's just that with the metagame of Protoss in Korea you're not gonna be excited for any Code S Protoss. I know Code A tosses have put up some fresh and exciting games but honestly none of them have faced a great Terran yet (or even any Terran).

For those asking why it's not on the calender, look above the search bar on the right hand side and click on the rather obvious IPL3 link.

WHy is this STILL not in the calender?? We need every single viewer for this!!!!
Besides that, I am sooooooo hyped!!!

I am extremely looking forward to this. But I just learned about the tournament-system and there is just no excitement in watching basically meaningless games, and that is what Pool Play is in this case the Open Bracket will also be useless after you have reached WB quarter-finals and guaranteed yourself a place in the main bracket. Although the rounds beforehand in the WB and the deciding rounds of the LB should be exciting).
Do I understand correctly that matches from the Open Bracket are gonna be stramed live from the Bally's stage? Then I am definitely watching that stream. Well, I'll turn in anyway since I have no other things planned today. At least following the Open Bracket should be fun. And the real excitement begins on Saturday then.

The intro is sick. Don't mss it, guys!

I don't think that's true. Obviously players won't reveal their full strategies, but finishing low in your group could mean you play PuMa first round etc. Getting first in the open bracket could be the difference between playing MC and playing Sleep. It's not life or death, but it has importance.

Looking forward to this. Really nice with some decent stream times for europeans as well, makes it easier to follow and get HYYYPED !

Well, I just disagree. There is just too much uncertainty in this whole thing. Being the seed #23 could mean you play a foreigner, #24 you play a korean and #25 you play your worst matchup, while #26 gives you your strongest one. And you probably have no way of knowing what it is gonna be beforehand. But ok, in tendency it should be better to be at the top of the open bracket than at the low end of seeding, so I guess you are right. I just don't believe it will make me enjoy the games much more because I don't believe there is enough incentive to really try hard in the Pool Play (Open Bracket of course is another story, so I will watch those games if I can).

Only a little more till it starts. Can't wait to see how the IPL production quality will be , this is their first live event isn't it, so a lot can go wrong, but hopefully the tournament will be great
