(by "tons" I mean at least 4 on top of my head). Kong liners are famous for winning a lot of side events, but never the main event, so his win today is in the logic of the universe.

MKP was the first to pull a ton of scv s and attack with just 1 marine in GSL but thats a move thats not really used anymore. Still he used to expand without gas almost every game before that became popular so I give him credit for that and his micro was just epic back then.

Maka rax was not really the 2rax 12 14, it was a rax visible by the standart scout pattern. MKP used 2 rax with an hidden rax (thus not really a maka rax) and popularized the various 2rax openers, the original maka rax didn't won Maka broadcasted games I think. Anyways a lot of terrans splitted their marines a bit (Mvp did it against Zenio) but not in the early game or not a lot. Plus the fact that Mvp lost to Zenio didn't help, whereas MarineKing crushed through his opponents more or less with marines+micro tricks only.

Maka rax is a completely foreign term, in Korea 2-rax early aggression play is called the Maka-build. I believe Wolf (or Moletrap, crc) mentioned this fact in one of their recent casts after having spoken to Maka himself about the "Maka rax". Edit: I think they mentioned it in Maka's most recent GSL match.

Why play straightup when you know you have the weaker macro game? Timings have been described as both cheesy and abusive. I don't understand what's wrong with them. You attack when your opponent is weak and you are strong, to the best of your scouting. I think that to not take advantage of timings is actually doing the game a disservice, since Blizzard has tried to make a game of great variety: 3 iconic races with characteristics so definite that each race actually attracts particular types of players and fans. The race loyalty is also something I enjoy, but I digress. Simply, not hitting when your opponent is weak is silly. It is especially silly when you consider that DRG is widely reputed to be the better player and a TvZ monster. It would have been idiotic for MKP to play to DRG's strengths. [I thus quote the above] Yet people tend to say that the games were bad because of this. The truth is I think DRG underperformed, and MKP really did his homework. The reason, not the excuse, may be that DRG has too much to prepare for: GSL, that Valencia thing, GSTL, this. I also posit that DRG may be MKP's opposite in one way. MKP wilts in the limelight, DRG shines when there's a crowd.
