Well it's not meant to work against Terran as well. Between 75 mineral turrets, point-and-click scans, stim, vikings, ravens, etc, Terran have a lot of ways to counter the banshee opener.

I can't help but feel Supernova wasn't doing that semi-all-in push until he realised Alive was struggling to deal with the banshees, let alone the army he'd built back home. But then again, if it was planned it was still well planned.

Btw: a good 1-1-1 still deserves respect. It just cops a lot of flak in TvP because theres an obvious skill differential in offence and defence. In a mirror match up, there's only better play than the opponent to point to.

I think there's a lot more to the korean scene than we understand. All we get is the games and drama of GSL, basically, but the esports fans in Korea actually get to play the korean ladder, see who's at the top, who people fear, the drama that surfaces at community sites like PlayXP, etc. That's why we never knew there was a lot of hype behind aLive

Banshee opener into expansion was pretty common in TvT a while back. If you do enough damage you can kill or easily equalise with a rax/expand or tank/expand.

With the first banshee Supernova did so much damage, 2 scans+several marines+engineering bay+2 turrets+some scvs.

It's also why Sage got a free pass into Code A, and why Younghwa is the best protoss in the world, and why aLive was #1 on the KR ladder for a while and got tons of hype hype hype.

What? You're referring to some of the stuff artosis has said, i'm assuming. All I'm saying is that we are more ignorant of all the rumors and drama of the korean scene than we think.

The only free pass Sage got was given by the people that played him in preliminaries. He's so damn good they were all push overs! :O

Player hype is just a flavor of the week. Look at asd. He was hyped as the best fou player like 5 months ago. Everyone forgot about him and was like ZOMG sC IS SOOOO GOOOOD and then asd came to code S. Then other players like Alive never really end up living up to the hype. In the end, it'll all be worked out. The good players will get into code S. The overhyped wont.
