Get ready! We've arranged an awesome showmatch for the community between the two German terrans, a casual get-together to the death, your very own team-liquid's TLO versus the impenetrable "Panzer General" GoOdy.
What will the format be? the classic best of five, maybe a best of seven. Probably depends on TLO's breath
When will it happen, you ask? wednesday 14.09.2011, @ right at 6 o'clock pm CET, as we know that Germans are never late.
What do they fight for? for the dazzling amount of 145 Euros, just enough to keep them motivated.
The showmatch has been organized by AiCola, and the matches will be casted by Mort, with AiCola as his co-caster. The prize money has been sponsored by ten German fans, and we appreciate their efforts to make this event possible and sharable with everyone!

On a side note - really cool. Both players have shown some amazing games in the past, TLO with his usual creative play and overall solid performances, and Goody with his usually spectacular game sense and superb decision making. Looking forward to this!

I think another good possibility is Special Endrey, after he stopped casting for Competo TV after the hickups he´s isn´t that ofter on stream anymore but organizes some amazing showmatch series. Ofc it´s up to you and the if the casters want to, but perhaps he´s an option.

Both players invest their time and should be "paid" for it imo. Since it´s 145€ perhaps something like 25€ for each map and the winner gets the rest? In a 3-2 result the looser will not have played for nothing but will get 50€ while winner still gets 95€ for a very close series.

Yeah I will probably give a little bit to the loser aswell, the thing is that theoretically the players could always just split the money however they wish, but TLO and Goody probably won't do this I was thinking about 100 or more for the winner and the rest of the collected money for the loser, gonna double check with the players again though. I want it to be quite a bit more for the winner though, so that it rly pays off to work hard and prepare, this way we will get the best games.
This is still very lucrative if you compare it to the weekly cups
I have my money on The Panzer General aswell, not only because I believe he is the better player, but also because he seems to be a much nicer guy (no offense to TLO)
I haven't seen the TLO/chill cast, but I saw the cloud cast' at homestory cup and I think it was very obvious that he was trolling/joking and as goody even wrote in his post he is able to laugh about it aswell, I personally laughed my ass off too :D

lol, the Event is organized and sponsored by some guys from the German community I threw in the idea on a forum and offered to give 10 Euroes from my own money. The guys you can see on the banner (and at the moment 1 more guy, who isn't included yet) quickly joined in to the idea and I offered to organize the match and collect the money.
I guess you could call me the admin and organisator of the event, but all I am doing is following the wishes of the sponsors and the community. That is why we picked Mort as our caster, and that is why im asking for suggestions for an English stream.
The picture in the spoiler shows Goody, me and TLO at the gamescom in cologne, were they both participated in the WCG National Finals.
TLO got knocked out by my teammate Ai.Honor, who then lost in the deciding match against goody.
The "sponsors" are community-members of the german community-site instarcraft.de who donated between 5 and 50 € to make this event happen.
The showmatch is a more or less spontaneous spinoff of a dicussion about TLO an Goody in the forum of instarcraft.de. Ai.Cola consented to organise a show-match and some guys started to donate.

If drool has time and wants to cast aswell then I dont mind having 2 english streams, since both have been requested by many. That should be it though, I dont think more casters make any sense.

Well if that's true, he's been quite disrespectful towards GoOdy on numerous occasions now. I'm not sure how one of the most consistent European players of late is horrible. I don't care how many tanks he queues up.

Exact context: He was streaming ladder session and he was playing against Nerchio on BackWater Gulch. He was meching but had no hellions to screen for his tanks and nerchio promptly rolled over his push. I said half jokingly you should look up some GoOdy reps and pick up a thing or 2. and he addressed me personally saying goody was horrible.

I checked with both and none of them complained There will never be a perfect mappool so I just chose to use the korean maps, since they _should_ be the best. But like I said I asked everybody and nobody complained.
this is a pretty interesting match, kind of think goody will win fairly comfortably but tlo has his own unique styles and tvt is probably his best matchup, could create for interesting games.
however it starts less than three hours before the champions league so i probably won't be able to watch more than two games

edit: goody is definitely a contender for top terran EU.....and thats a very HUGE accomplishment due to the ton EU terrans. Then again nobody is really crowned top EU terran, its like top 10 who are equally skilled.
I dont even get it. This game makes no sense when a goody is involved. TLO was always up on bases but goody somehow was ahead in supply (even before the major engagements). It wasnt like tlo was high on money either.... o_o
the panzers are rolling. ye i was quite surprised how goody could get such an supply lead after the first battle. they were both on about 110 and then suddenly goody was 30 supply ahead. and his multitasking isnt as bad as it often looks. he keeps harassing and denies expansions.

Goody basically didn't lose anything frivolously that entire game. Very measured play. Also for all the crap he might get about queueing units, he doesn't ever miss a production cycle =p
I don't really see a need to rush expos that fast in a Mech TvT, you're going to float minerals later so mass CC is natural, but early on you can quite comfortably spend everything and having enough units to actually set up strong tank lines is pretty vital to securing your bases later in the game.

people exaggerate, and something I learned from goody's stream is that he does it on purpose! Its kind of genius in itself actually, it gives him so much time to pick his proper battle location and way to engage but thats goody for you.
It seems like TLO has better build orders then goody . Goody is really late to take his natural and thors pretty much rolls every kind of small mech armies he tries to attack with .

I agree with this comment. Most people don't hate TLO but his comment against goody put a sour element in everyone's mouth, especially since goody is actually pretty good.

Maybe you are right, the second game was mech in the end, but GoOdy had lost the match relativly early after loosing 20 workers to the double helion attack. I think this was winning TLO the game, not the a superior mech play later.
And TLO was NOT kicked out of the EPS because of this loss. TLO actually went through the group stage despite the loss, while GoOdy didn´t make it to the Playoffs.
Then TLO left the EPS because of this contract with Sony Ericson.

TLO d/c'd once and goody refused to grant him a regame, which resulted in TLO getting kicked out of a tournament, that behavior of goody is probably the reason why he's pretty much the only player TLO shows open dislike to.

Maybe you are right, the second game was mech in the end, but GoOdy had lost the match relativly early after loosing 20 workers to the double helion attack. I think this was winning TLO the game, not the a superior mech play later.
TLO lost his second command center early on to two banshees, that and their harrassment evened the early harrassment out again and the game was pretty damn long so you can't argue that TLO was in a commanding lead after that.

nope he didn't say it and I could definitely be wrong but I was looking very closely and he seemed to purposely click 2 tanks at a time, or say 4 hellions then he goes on and does his thing. Its a very interesting trade off and I never thought about sacrificing efficiency in terms of unit output in favor of more time to micro/positioning. Maybe that is why goody's play style works? I don't know really.

For a german TLO is EXTREMLY beloved (even by germans)?
You just have to take into account that they are still germans :D.
I 2nd this, in the german community (LET ALONE THE ESL PAGE 95% CS KIDS) TLO is a fan favorite overall! (Yea he slipped from time to time but hey who cares..)

Oh, okay. Queuing can be pretty good if your units are very cost effective/efficient, and its late in game when every mineral/gas counts- for example GoOdy vs Diamga in the XMG series on shakrus, it went into a kind of base race and goodys army died to ultras but he had like 5 facts queued to the brim with units, once he landed some macro orbitals and got a big enough army he just won.
There've been really exciting matches between goody and TLO! If you missed them, you really have a reason to be sad about it.
@ the "TLO said bad things about goody" topic: I can't see a reason for letting that become an "immortal topic". TLO is human as we all (except you creepy zergs) are and no one is perfect. He should apologize if he didn't already have in the meantime. If he will not, they both will hate each other for the rest of their career and everyone else will notice that unkindness and handle that in their different ways. I just hope that you guys will not let this topic growing too much, because I really don't want to see it in every possible connection to TLO and something about respect etc... It isn't yet, I know that, but it might be, so I just want you guys to know what I'm thinking about that to prevent it from happening. It actually really shouldn't be. Let me say again: no one is perfect.

He had a chance to apologize after the fact and declined to do so, saying "he calls it as it is". I'm pretty sure the things said about TLO's play would be a lot harsher if someone treated him the way he treated Goody v Streklok.
Im German and i have a great respect for TLO. I enjoy watching his stream and he's a nice guy. Im also a bit disspointed that he talks bad about another player although he always says how important good sportsmanship is. But on the other side you don't have to be Friends with everybody.

I dont think that there's a german community because a community consists of people somewhat connected to each other to express a somewhat similar opinion which is basically not possible in a forum.
TLO really played well in this series.
He should really play more smaller tournys in the future because to root for a player who is basically off the screen except for big tournaments is somewhat unjust compared to Goody who wins something like 8 to 10 tournaments each month while TLO like most other Team Liquid members dont even join any or none except the big ones.
So its shouldnt be that surprising that he should be more of a fan favorite.

I think for this weekly tournaments you need totaly different skills. While a lot of players like Socke, WhiteRa etc. from time to time attend to this cups, they often lose to some nonames in the early Bo1 rounds. You need absolute solid builds for this cups to win 8-10 games in a row. So TLO can only loose reputation by playing such cups. He is still counts to the closed society of top playes who is invited to the big cups.
