They facilitate changeover so Code S isn't the same ~30 people for five seasons in a row. Under the revamped system only the Code S people who finished last in group play are at risk and with an ever more competitive Code A/B pool there are more players who are capable of playing at the highest level. There should be motivation to become one of the Top 8 / 16 in the GSL rather than just "holding on to that Code S spot" and there should be enough competition that we see constant changeover between the Bottom 16 of Code S and the Top 16 of Code A. Mileage may vary as people on the edge run into stacked groups and opponents, but the people that are at the top of their game will hold on to their spots in the Up/Down matches or win it back the next season(s). | ||

Leenock gets his strongest matchup x3, and Alicia honestly doesn't have strong PvZ. The one series he beat Leenock in, Alicia didn't actually look very good. Leenock definitely has his best chance yet of making code S. Byun and Supernova are the 2 other strong contenders for a code S spot. Yoda I'll be honest doesn't seem quite up to the same level. Alicia in his current state I don't think could beat any of the terrans. Definitely could play spoiler and knock out Leenock though. | ||

realistically supernova hasn't shown much these days, same story with alicia. in code s i don't foresee any of these players making it far but still. Go Alicia... | ||
