Additional Rules & Information + Show Spoiler +Maps ================ •All matches must be started on the map listed on the player bracket above the current round being played. •In a 'best of X' series, the loser chooses the next map to play from the map pool. + Show Spoiler +NA Map Pool: + Show Spoiler +MLG Xel’Naga Caverns, MLG Metalopolis, MLG Shakuras Plateau, MLG Shattered Temple, GSL Crevasse (Official), GSL Tal’Darim Altar LE (by BalphEubank), GSL Xel’Naga Fortress (Official), GSL Terminus RE, GSL Dual Sight (by MildCocoA), GSL Daybreak (by Ayaka) EU Map Pool: + Show Spoiler +MLG Xel’Naga Caverns, MLG Metalopolis, ESL Shakuras Plateau, MLG Shattered Temple, MLG Tal'Darim Altar, GSL Crevasse (Official), GSL Xel’Naga Fortress, GSL Dual Sight, GSL Daybreak (Official) •All maps played on must be the exact name shown, letter for letter, no exceptions. •If your opponent hosted on the incorrect map it's your responsibility to leave the game at once and contact an admin. Failure to do so may result in the game being counted even though it's not the correct map. •Each map in the pool may be played once per series. Maps may not be vetoed by either player. No-Shows ================ •All players should make an effort to be in one of the Playhem sc2 channels (Playhem, Playhem2..) when they are participating in a tournament, however this is not mandatory. •Should your opponent be missing, you must attempt to add them to your friends list by the character code on the bracket and message them, if they are unresponsive or offline you may contact an admin according to the following: •If your opponent is offline/unresponsive for 15 minutes after the start of the tournament OR 10 minutes after you were due to face them in any later round after the tournament began you may report a no-show to a tournament admin and be advanced. •Reporting false no-shows in an attempt to get a free win, or not taking the appropriate measures listed above may result in disqualification from the tournament. •Some exceptions may be made for players that are forced to delay their games and ask for an extension before hand so long as it's within a reasonable time frame, players should try their best to accommodate the other person if possible. Observers & Casters ================ •All Playhem Admins and official streamers MUST be permitted into your game if they request it, failure to comply with official streamers and admins of playhem may result in immediate forfeit. •If you are unsure if a caster is an official member of Playhem, you should contact an admin to ask at once. Official casters will generally be accompanied by the account "PlayhemTV". •Observers are permitted in games as long as you have the consent from both players in the game. •A player may ask an observer to leave the game at any time for any reason (suspicion of cheating, lag, etc). •If a game is started with an observer that you did not want to permit in the game, you should leave the game immediately at the start and ask for a regame. •Failure to remove an observer from a lobby when another player requests it may constitute a technical no-show as the other player may refuse to play the game. •In the event that you permit a non-official caster or observer into your game, you do so at your own risk and waive any right to dispute the game outcome due to stream/observer cheating. Smurfing & Leagues ================ •If an admin determines that you own an account that is of a higher league than the tournament you are playing in, or that you were previously in a higher league, you may be immediately forfeited from the tournament and/or banned from the site. •If you are consistently winning a low league tournament, or haven't been promoted due to Starcraft II's MMR system, you may be asked to not play in any further tournaments until you are promoted to the next highest league bracket. •An exception to this is the Open tournament, players of any league may participate and use any account regardless of their main account's ranking. •In the event that you suspect your opponent to be a smurf, you can report your opponent to an admin after playing all the games of your series (unless there is substantial and obvious evidence). •If an admin disagrees with your report, we ask that you respect the decision and accept it as a loss. We will do our best to catch any and all smurfs but we stand by "innocent until proven guilty" and go to great lengths to not ban innocent players, even if they are suspicious. Please keep in mind that in a tournament, there are bound to be players that are simply better than you. •In the event that you are playing on a secondary or new account, an admin may ask you to provide a profile link to your main account for review. Failure to comply may result in disqualification if you are under suspect of smurfing. Disconnects ================ •Disconnects in most cases will count as an immediate loss within the criteria outlined below: •If the disconnect happened in the first 4 minutes of the game and no contact between the two players has been made (scouting, cheese, etc) then the game should be replayed. Once a player has scouted their opponent, disconnects will count as a loss. -Scouting constitutes vision of any portion of the opponents base/units/structures/spawning location. In the event of one player being random, indication of their race also counts as being scouted. •If it's obvious that your victory was imminent and definitive before the disconnect happened (ie. you were finishing off his base and he had no army left), contact an admin immediately and a decision will be made on a case-by-case basis. •The player who did not disconnect may offer a rematch after any disconnect at their own discretion, this is NOT mandatory and entirely up to the player to decide. •If a disconnected player does not return to battle.net within 5 minutes, you may report him to an admin as a no-show and get a walk-over for the remaining game(s) of the series if applicable. Misc ================ •In the event of a stalemate game / tie, the game will not count as a win for either player and should be replayed on the same map. Disclaimer: Any admin can overturn or supersede these rules at our sole discretion, this will typically not be done except for extraordinary circumstances. If you disagree with any admin's ruling you may politely argue your case and ask it to be reviewed by another admin. These rules may be changed/updated at any time without notice, check back frequently to stay up to date on current rules. Last update: October 14, 2011

Very nice idea to make a tournament per league (or almost), allows not-so-good players (like I) to compete without thinking "whatever, the finalists will be so much better than me, there's no point". That being said, I'm platinum and am not sure what this hotkeyit.com prize means. Would that be a free subscription to their coaching ? Better get 10 usd :p

Yeah, i think it's a one week subscription to hotkeyit.com.

So lads I need some info! This is the first time I've signed up for a tournament, I would assume I find out who my opponent is around starting time on playhem's website? Do I simply invite that person and start playing games? How do I submit the score?

Yeah that's right, it's a week subscription to hotkeyit.com which is a coaching and instructional video site.

Hey man =D Make sure you get checked in 45 minutes before start time by going to the tournament page and pressing check-in. If you go to the Players tab you can see "Here" next to your name in green font if you're checked in.
The bracket will be created automatically when the tournament starts and will appear on the tournament page. At the top of the bracket, you'll see your opponent's sc2 nickname and character code so that you're able to add them as a friend and message them if they aren't in the Playhem channel. You just create a custom game and play them as soon as you have an opponent, unless the tournament is being casted and an admin asks you to wait so that your match can be casted.
On our tournaments right now, you submit your results by pressing "Upload Replay" after your match and uploading the replay(s). The site will read your replay files and automatically detect the winner. If there's any issues, just contact myself or Ben in-game and we'll fix them for you.

Hmm I'm not sure what's causing that, I've never seen that before. Try going to Games on Playhem and re-saving your sc2 information so that it updates your league. Sorry about that man!

there are already two €100/200 tournaments on sunday server (zotac/go4sc2). why another one with $100? doesnt make much sense to besides players join the least stacked to win the money... and $100 are only ~€71

Well we offer more than just the Sunday cup, we have tournaments with cash prizes every day. Both of those tournaments are before ours though so the majority of players would be able to play in one (or both I guess) of those and still play in ours.
Yes $100 isn't 100 euros but it was never supposed to be lol. We started these EU tournaments matching our NA schedule and prize pool. I would like to bump it up to 100 euros at some point but right now it's $100 USD, the same as it is on NA.

I played in the gold/plat tournament yesterday, and it's fun I reccommend it,
the best part is how easy it is, the site refreshes automatically and shows you your opponent and the map you have to play, then after the game you can just upload the replay and the site does the rest,

playhem you are the first that made me participate frequently in online tournaments/leagues ... and I am loving it.
Easy to: sign up, check in, upload replays, automatic bracket update, end of tournament download the full replay package and scout my opponents tactics for the next tournament.
I like it, it's great fun. Hopefully I can gather some bucks beside playing my favorite online competition game!

I participated in my first tournament on playhem, got destroyed first round by a master but it was fun nonetheless. The tournament system seems to be working very well, and it's a good opportunity to get a taste of competitive play for more casual players . Only one or two critics: the site is a little bit confusing in my opinion, I was looking for a FAQ or something to explain how the system works, especially how the point system works (I don't know if they regen, if you have to buy them etc.) But otherwise it's really cool .
|
Starting in 2 hours guys!
|
It says on the playhem website that the EU daily must be played on the americas server. This has to be a mistake right??
|
Is it possible to play in the EU Daily when you're 15 years old (obv I wouldn't play for the money, but for the fun )?
|
Looking for the result from Playhem daily 2012-01-10 the winner was KingKing, but cant find it anywhere, does someone know where i can get it
|
It may just be my searchingskills but the amount of general info available on the Playhem website is a bit low. Am I correct? Like I said, maybe I'm just missing something. With my registration apparently I got an amount of points which I use to spend on playing in tournaments? And then I can win more points or cash if I get far enough in certain tourneys. Then what? What happens if my points run out? Where are the results of past tourneys and replaypacks? I'm just missing the "about" and "this is what and how we do stuff" links I guess. The site just seems to be a dressed down tourneysystem which leaves me to find out how it works for myself. Is that statement true or is it me? TL and the Wikipedia seem to have more info about Playhem in various threads and pages then the site itself does :-P
Can anyone point me to them? There seems to be a Help section, but it only gives you a way to add feedback or look at past problems people have stated (many of which hold question I stated above).
I know I would be better off asking this directly towards the Playhem staff, but I'm just looking for some experiences with the site I guess. I just registered yesterday :-)
|
It is basically what you say: a tournament hub. Just sign up and the rest is really self explanatory. For anything not hosted by Playhem, there is no support. I think the points system is pointless and dead, but if you want to find a quick tournament for your league it works decent.
|
It's what I figured, but I don't agree about the self explanatory bit :-) Maybe for the more internet-savvy people that have been playing tournaments often (like I am/have, if I may say so myself). And I did get most of it. It's just weird the info isn't there. As if they don't want new people to join...
