I think what they meant was an anonymous battle on ladder, not one which has been prepared for. I personally like prepared battles more and think they demonstrate skill.

Agreed. This is getting tiring. Im a huge MMA fan and I was pretty pissed about 10 minutes ago, but taking a step back and thinking about this makes me realize that Polt seriously outplayed MMA
MMA loves getting his macro up and hitting from tons of different angles to slowly bring his opponent down. Polt knows that and decides to attack early multiple times head on to prevent MMA from getting into his flow. Thats great strategic thinking and it should be respected
