Team sports and individual sports are different though. Team sports, such as soccer, basketball, football, booing is expected for guest team. No... I got your point. But, it's not correct.

There is booing in every single college sport in America whether individual or not individual sports.

These are all young adults who do not make money.

There is nothing wrong with booing. In fact, why don't you read articles about players saying they love being booed because then they know they are getting to the other team's fans or such. Booing isn't bad. It's taking it beyond booing, threats and acts of foul play.

Professional athletes have a city where they are liked and everywhere else they are hated. They go into different cities expecting to be hated by the fans. They enjoy making their haters unhappy. I doubt a professional gamer flies into IEM cologne expecting to be hated and booed and I doubt he was thinking "I'm gonna make those haters hate me even more LOL" while still having an entire established fan base elsewhere to fall back on.

Also, You continue to give examples of team sports when refuting a point about individual sports. Please, give me an individual sport where its acceptable to boo players solely because of their nationality?




To further the ridiculousness of your argument, the fans at IEM weren't booing Puma for being Korean. They were booing him for being the favored opponent against their national German favorite. His nationality made no difference... he just wasn't Socke. End of story.

totally agree about it being bad thing. the blizzard event in poland was so godlike, fans cheering HARD for everyone, was so good. mr. bitters comment yesterday was so stupid, if you ask me that should have consequences.


Trying to recall what I might have said to prompt this discussion.

I was definitely pushing the crowd to support Socke, but I don`t recall asking anyone to boo Puma...

There wasn't a single person in the audience that didn't want to see Socke win yesterday, but there were still a lot of cheers for Puma win he closed out his 3-0.

That said, if I'm overlooking some comment that was way out of line, please let me know, and I'll be sure to address it on stream today.

If it weren't for the annoying alarmish sound going off every 5 seconds i would've fallen asleep to this boring "dog fighting space ship game"

I'm just happy it's finally over.. get on to some real E-sport games that are fun for spectators to watch.

when I was at gamescom on thursday the crowd at the side stage was way better compared to the main stage.

The main stage is mixed with all different kinds of gamers and even people who dont play at all. The side stage was pure SC2 guys and it was much better and the reactions were better too.

According to the Puma performance here I can say that MC will crush him 3:0. Mana owned him in the group stage, but yes, you can say, that Mana PvT is fantastic. I can say that the same abt MC's PvT.

The biggest problem with that dog fighting game (apart from 15 minutes of nothing) is that you are only watching it from one person's view. This means that you can't really tell how much health the other person has so the only way to know if it's close is if the guy we're spectating is about to die.

The only way you can become invested in a competition is to know when one team is winning/losing, if we can only know when this one person is losing...we're either invested in hoping they don't die or cheering that they do die..neither of which makes it a viable spectator game.

As much as I love Carmac and Take I have to say IEM should seriously do something for the next event to ensure that only true fans of SC/2 are watching the SC2 games. Scr*w the "We need to expose new spectators to watch SC2"... No offense but German random spectators (for whatever personal reason) are not suited to be watching a manner game like SC/SC2. The hate towards players at a lan event is NOT welcome in SC2!!!

With this I'm also boycotting Khaldor's stream for uncontrolled bias towards German players. At least till he shapes his commentary up.

I hope PuMa gets a warm welcome in Arizona to shake off that horrible feeling he got from the crowd at the IEM event.
