And by that, I mean that he basically made FruitDealer look like a NesTea-level Zerg. That's how badly he played. FD played pretty well - didn't pull any risky strategies - though it's kind of hard to judge because ... well, the Maru of last night would make anyone look amazing. (Though, to be fair, I think Maru typically isn't quite that terrible from what little I saw of him in the qualifiers.) EDIT: Okay, so apparently Maru cheesed tgun out in the qualifiers twice with two-port banshees. Maybe he's just not good at TvZ. How can somebody lose TWO times to 2 port banshees? o_o

He lost in the GSTL to 2 port banshee and it looks like the same thing happened here. Maru must be better than what we saw. He is incredibly young, I bet nerves got to him.

I mean, not that any of their losses here were "upsets" per se, Im, not crying imba--but it is notable that the only Toss with a win was playing a mirror match. Not really if you look at the match ups it makes perfect sense.... Inca vs DRG comon... Ganzi vs Van the only one that coulda gone either way was Trae vs Tails

So if anything I'd think Tails had the edge there in expectations. Ganzi vs Van, I have seen Van play before and he's pretty damn solid... So I think that would be the one that's a tossup.

So I think that would be the one that's a tossup. vanvan has been on his way out for a long time now, and frankly I'd say that match was an easy call. As for Taeja(whothehellistrae), he's yet another solid SlayerS terran. Personally neither of those wins are surprising. There may be an upside, protoss fans. If you ask me, some of the players who've dropped out today were not very good in the first place(I'm pointing at vanvan and anypro). Maybe we'll see some new stars in the protoss world? Well, it still sucks how protoss is struggling, but I think they'll bounce back.

Taeja is one of those guys who's been looking good in the Korean weeklies, not surprised to see him do well. I want Protoss to continue doing terribly. I want MC to drop to code A. The best chance of action is if the situation is made comically obvious.

He is in a group with 3 Terrans, what will happen is that he goes 1-2 in his group, losing against the 1-1-1 twice and holding it once because Noblesse forgot Siege Mode.

There may be an upside, protoss fans. If you ask me, some of the players who've dropped out today were not very good in the first place(I'm pointing at vanvan and anypro). Actually, I'd agree with that. I love Protoss, but the "Protoss OP" whining of a few months ago was unbearable, and in large part due to fairly mediocre players abusing timing pushes that T and (especially) Z hadn't figured out yet. Now that Protoss is struggling, it helps separate the wheat from the chaff--the Protoss who can thrive in the current state of the metagame are the ones with legitimately elite skills. A couple months ago if MC had played Nestea and beaten him, half the audience would have blamed it on MC playing an "OP" race. Now that Z have shown P they can kick their asses, any wins Toss get are ones they've proven they deserve, and thats the way it should be IMO. I believe a similar thing happened with Z tbh. After a long time being seemingly underpowered, Zergs without legit skills got weeded out.
