EDIT: not that there's anything wrong with it. It's just so... different from what I'm used to seeing.

When I got invited I went to get my VISA from the Chinese embassy but you can't apply for a chinese visa from korea if you're french apparently... so I was kinda stuck, CPL did its best to find a solution and made some arrangements ; they sent me an airport visa apply that would work once I land in Shenyang, and it did. I got through no problem (they put the VISA on my passport and stamp it) and someone from the staff was waiting for me at the airport with a CPL sign. We went for lunch while waiting for SaSe to arrive, and around 1h30 later they call us to say that there is a problem with my VISA, so we get back to see whats up and after waiting for like 45min-1hour during which the CPL is talking to the immigration manager here to explain the situation some more in case they didn't get why I was here, they just said "I'm not qualified to receive a VISA for China"... How does that make sense since they already give it to me, I have no idea, and they wouldn't give me any other reason as to why they're cancelling it... because that's what they did, they put a "cancelled" stamp on my VISA, and got me instantly on a plane back to Seoul. So yeah basically I got in without too much problem (I had more problems leaving Korea cause they had to figure out the documents CPL sent me were legit ..) but 1 hour later they're like lol jk you can't stay here... and that is fucking retarded. My guess is that happened only because I was french according to how impossible it is to get a VISA if ure not in France (they just don't even take your apply if ure french in Korea as I said). Anyway, I was and am still obviously furious about that, but CPL did everything they can and for the short time I was there at least I got treated and received rly well. So I don't care what people say about the CPL history, they're not in the same hands anymore, and as far as I'm concerned they did an awesome job, so if there are more events from them I'll definetely go, as long as the chinese immigration stop being this retarded of course ... Man that sucks.. and thanks for clarifications

I don't feel they're out of the woods yet, just because players are treated well on site doesn't mean the top management can't still be shady. I mean, have the winners already received their prize money? About the Visa issue, did you try going through the French embassy?

I had to go back to France if anything and it was obviously not an option, what CPL arranged was the only way. Also I don't know about the prizes but we got the flights/hotels paid by CPL at least.

Also I don't know about the prizes but we got the flights/hotels paid by CPL at least. Visa upon arrival has a high probability of failing, especially with a French Passport. Did you try to go through a travel/visa agency instead of directly hit the embassy, it should normaly do the trick (at least for a Tourist Visa). The same thing happened to me in Hong Kong (Embassy said French have to go to apply in France), I just had to pay 100 euros for my visa using an agency, which is still cheaper than flying back to France

Shoulda been possible there through an agency... Altho im not French ive done it there multiple times, also when i got my working visa (for which i officially had to returrn home)... Other than that I've never heard anyone being able to apply for a visa upon arrival, so thats kinda strange ![]() Anyway in the end there is no one to blame for this, def not the Chinese government, but the European government and French government ... If you think getting a visa to China is hard, try getting one for Shengen area as a Chinese... I remember when US visa prices went up, Chinese also raised visa prices for American citizens, they are still more expensive than visas for ppl from other countries... bleh -_-

Might also have been possible in South Korea from dedicated visa agency to China but they are not sure.
