Yup. Pretty much. Might not be first place, but taking top placements is more than enough to be satisfied. But if you know why the people are commenting like they you'd understand.

After Sen it was pretty much an in house tourney. It's not like anyone else of note besides Sen showed up.

If EG couldn't beat the no names who showed up at the tourney they might as well disband.

I'm always impressed to see Sen clean house and it was even more impressive to see his run against team EG.

So...
1. 2-0 over EGStrifecro
2. 2-0 over EGiNcontroL
3. 2-0 over EGDeMuslim
4. 0-2 to EGIdrA in his first loss in the winners bracket
5. 2-0 over EGMachine
6. 2-1 in a rematch against EGDeMuslim
7. 3-1 over EGAxslav
8. 3-0 in a rematch against EGIdrA

Sen was just an absolute monster as per usual, he just needs some training on how to deal with void rays and he's set!
Hmmm

I knew Sen was gonna face Idra in the grand finals from the very beginning. As much as I am a Idra fan, Sen is better in ZvZ, and his other matchups are too good for any other players in the tourney to have touched him.

One of the best performances at this event in my opinion is Gosu.Shield a terran player who had quite a hard road, wins over grandmaster level: bubbles and jobless then takes out lzgamer 2-1 and quite narrowly loses to axslav 2-1 in winners semis. he then lost to demuslim but I think a fairly nice performance overall for this terran player who isn't too well known gjgj ^_^

This is a very very spectacular performance run by Sen in this tournament, he sorta all-killed the entire EG team alone.

But.., Sen's play isn't spotless. The biggest issue with Sen's play style is scouting.

Yes, regurgitate whatever Incontrol and Idra say based off one game.

While the format needed kinks worked out, and there were a few mistakes, I'd like to think that we had a pretty successful tournament. All the players seemed to have a good time and enjoy the casual LAN atmosphere, and all the spectators (along with myself) loved being so close to the action.

I just want to give a BIG BIG BIG thank you on behalf of Odyssey Gaming and Verizon to everybody that came out today and made this such a cool event. Also a HUGE thanks to Team Evil Geniuses for coming out and playing as well as for being so patient and humble with their fans that were at the tournament.

Another big thanks to the amazing commentating throughout the tournament by Axeltoss, Gretorp, iNcontroL, and IdrA. None of us could have hoped for a more class act, and all-star cast.
wat.

i dont understand, according to the bracket and the guy posting sens results above me, idra didnt lose 2 different best of x's so how is the tourney over?

the same thing happened at the end of homestory cup, naniwa never lost 2 different best of x's either

what is it with people who just dont understand how double elim works? : /

For winning the WB Idra started off up 1-0. They then played a BO5 as normal.

edit: fixed mistake

Because rather than having an extended finals format for double elim, we used an alternate format where the winner of the losers bracket played the winner of the semi-finals. Obviously the winner's bracket winner should have an advantage, so we started sen at 0-1 as a penalty for being in the loser's bracket. It's actually a fairly common format and both IdrA and Sen agreed to it.

For winning the WB Idra started off up 1-0. They then played a BO5 as normal.

At HSC they did extended series straight up (continued the series Huk and Nani had played before as though it was a BO7).

no, they did the same 'you get a free game' system as you said they did here. but again, thats not how a double elimination actually works.

even ignoring that its double elim, 1 free point in a match is clearly of less value than idras earlier 2-0 win.

im happy that sen won, i just dont understand what the problem is with playing out a tourney properly. also best of 1 lower bracket loloolol.

it also appears, atleast from the bracket, that the 'bigger' names got seeded straight to the second round? based on the fact that they were bigger names, and therefore didnt need the help....? so confusing

The main problem was time. We were constricted by time. We were hoping for the full 64 players and made the schedule according to that. Even with the 47 or so players we actually had show up, many of the players and staff were at the event for well over 12 hours. I myself as well as the staff arrived at 6am and were there until almost 11pm. If it was bo3 winners and losers, we would all still be there. haha. Unfortunately having a two day tournament with limited funding interferes with the normal business of a profitable LAN center. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused, but this format was as practical as we saw fit. We'll definitely work out all the kinks for next time.

Right you are. Fixed that.

And that's how seeding works, protects the better players.
