They're ruining ESPORTS by talking about ruining ESPORTS!
Anyway, I'm torn between rooting for one of my favourite players and rooting for Tarson, who was the first person I've seen playing competitive StarCraft during Brood War (Blizzcon Invitational a couple years back) who also happens to come from the country I was born in

Why no potential? i mean come on, look at all his games, no macro nothing, he gets huge leads and then suddenly loses everything lol, he just looks bad to me, compared to other players who started not that long ago too, he looks just bad I don't think you'd have that attitude if Grubby had been a BW pro, not a WC3 pro. Two things: 1) You don't know Grubby's situation, how much he practices or how seriously he takes SC2, or if he's had other stuff going on in his life. To assume that he's been straight up training 24/7 for 4 months to produce mediocre results is making an assumption. 2) People are capable of improving in a very short amount of time, regardless of past results. Maybe something will click for him in a month, and he'll suddenly become the bonjwa of SC2. Flash was not considered a good player for a while, until he had a chance to shine finally. Basically, don't count anyone out :D Just to add to your true points: Grubby did pretty frickin good overall - players that finished WORSE in their respective groups: - Tyler - Morrow - Nightend - Kas - Adel - TT1 Just because he collapsed vs IdrA everyone is handing him shit, it really should be banworthy after a certain point. No respect for one of the most succesful overall esport-representatives from Europe is really disappointing considering that we are on TL and not some random scrub/kiddy-forum. I like to judge people from results in tournaments and how well I see how the player does. So atm I think the liquid team, grubby, EGMachine, etc. etc. could use improvements. I would hate to judge grubby on how good he is in WC3 and rather how good he is in SC2. We should respect him I guess on past achievements, but not until he starts showing better results that I will think he is a better player or will shine through. He finished 3rd in a really difficult 6 man group, why aren't the 3 pro's who finished BELOW him and have probably been playing the game longer then him getting shit? Probably because no one on that list have the hype that surrounds Grubby, Europe's best WC 3 player. People expect much from Grubby. He's not just some random scrub; he's a RTS legend. Pretty much this i would have expected someone like Grubby to fair better, but it might just take more time or more tournaments.
I guess I am being a little hard on him though.

The fact of the matter is that the only thing that matters in the end is who won the game, not by how much or how well they played. If all these progamers are so horrible in your eyes, I think you should go there yourself. Should be pretty easy to beat julyzerg in zvz, grubby in macro games and moon in micro fights right? This is LR, NO RATIONALITY ALLOWED.

If dreamhack thinks 6-5 is better than 7-6, they are going to put Grubby higher. And Grubby is also more awesome, which counts. So grubby can get outted in the next round? IdrA beat grubby anyways so i would think that they would go to that for a tiebreaker as well. Which should mean IdrA in all possible situations unless he did withdraw. Which i kinda doubt because i haven't seen any twitter update or FB from Eg about that. I'd think that'd be the tiebreaker too, but it could be whoever has less total losses comes before player vs player tiebreak, which would explain the situation. Official rules anywhere? That would be the dumbest tie break ever, especially when Idra has more wins. If its anything but head to head, its fucked up.

I hope not. That seems dumb as fuck. If IdrA has more wins and won the head to head that should be enough.

Idra beat Grubby 2-0 and they were the only players tied at 3-2. No way does it make ANY sense for Grubby to advance over Idra.
Now if Idra withdrew instead of Grubby advancing due to a fucked up tie-break, that would be another issue.

i see nothing in the dreamhack pdf with rules that says how they rank players with the same win loss ratio. In absolutely every game - notoriously football, or soccer how you call it - you substract and if the number is the same eg. 7-6 and 6-5 is the same +1 number, then the guy with a higher first number (maps won or goals scored lets say in soccer) has the edge. Nowhere have i ever seen them take the percentage, that is just stupid. Its even stupider considering the best way to make this ranking is by using direct result, where idra won 2-0. So if they say grubby is going thru im calling major bullshit. Got nothing against grubby, but the rules seem to retarded, and made up on the spot. If any1 can link me a ruleset that is more detailed for this situation that dreamhack has posted somewhere in advance id be grateful.
