MKP is good at timing attacks,base trades and doing gimmicky builds. I could name at least 5 terrans that are better imo. He basically invented, or at least popularized marine splitting, akin to how July popularized Muta stacking in SC1. He's still going to be getting credit for revolutionizing that part of the game even in 10 years. Except July ACTUALLY invented mutastacking. People would have split their marines sooner or later. MarineKing happened to do it sooner. Umm...Nope. July popularized it. His teammate Shark invented Mutastacking. MKP was responsible for popularizing it. MVP used it first, but he lost. MKP's series against Zenio was the first time that Marine micro was truly demonstrated in astonishing effectiveness. I thought it was MKP vs Kyrix on Shakuras Plateau where everyone was in disbelief at marines beating banelings with crazy splits and micro. They were, MVP showcased some good splits vs Zenio in earlier rounds of that tournament but ultimately lost the series. MKP then blew everyone away with his control vs Kyrix. --- This game is looking good for Polt so far =) Thank god somebody else remembers MVP showing it before MKP.
It's always funny with these things because you never know who's doing what in practice, or even just on the ladder. It's not like MKP or MVP woke up for the games on the morning of their respective games and were like "oooh, I'm going to split my marines against his banelings today"
I'd not be surprised if you look back further or in some less well known games and find other people doing it even before that too heh.
MKP did the most for popularizing it in that game with pure marine vs baneling on shak at least.
