4 new players will be invited and the 4 previously invited players may attend as well, since they performed so well that despite only attending MLG once, they will be seeded into the pool. However, they need to pay the trip out of their own pocket, which means that placing anything below the 5th places makes the trip economically unviable.

Please get DongRaeGu so he will get the Code S spot he deserves!!!
Already super pumped for this event! MLG Columbus was great!

I would imagine koreans will be coming again, especially considering that anaheim is several hours closer to korea than columbus was.

what...? There's a $5,000 first place prize. That's like saying you wouldn't want to play in a basketball contest where you could win a lot of money because your team is way better than the others and you won't improve by playing them. The whole reason you practice is so you can improve and then go dominate some tourneys...

IMO, there should be a higher prize pool.
At Columbus there were 276 players x $70.00 = $19,320 (Of course, I am sure not everyone had to pay for a pass). Total prize pool is only $14,000? Hmmmm.....

Was actually surprised about this too, but hey! $14,000 is still a shitton of money. I think it's because of the incredibly pricepool at the GSL that just makes all other tournaments look like a waste of time.
Anyhow, I can't wait for this tournament, Columbus was fantastic!

I doubt that, seeing as they're both coming to Dreamhack.

I'm pretty sure they'll raise it for next year. I think they can keep the national championships with the same prize pool next year and increase the regular events to the following:
1st 10,000 2nd 6000 3rd 4000 4th 2800 5th 2000 6th 1400 7th 1000 8th 800 9th-16th 500/each
This would be a $32K prize pool with 9-16th at least getting $500 each. Considering how much more popular SC2 is than the other games I think this makes sense... we'll see!
