We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum.

Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service.

Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out.

I wish they would just make the tournament a straight forward double elimination tournament, with 128 or 256 players starting in the first round; and get rid of the pool play/extended series crap. They could perhaps seed the highest rated 16 players so they wouldn't have to face each other until the late stages of the tournament, say Ro16.

Would make it a lot easier to understand.

I don't like the way they seed the players into the bracket, it seems like they simply lump 2 groups together. Thorzain for example has to play MC again very soon if he manages to get this far, which will be an almost impossible task given the nature of the extended series. They should mix it up a little more.

It's a result of having 4 pools with 5 players, and there's no way around it. (instead of 4 pools with 4 players each)

They could randomize the distribution, but the way they do it now is to put (for example) 2B 3A 4B 5A 6B into one branch of the bracket. (second of group B, third of group A etc)

Players from the same group have to meet each other much more often than necessary, actually more so than if they used a randomized distribution.

Yeah I was just wondering about that.

Alone it would be kinda stupid as the players have already met. It would be cooler to have them play other people instead, especially since it's very much possible.
But when you mix it with extended series it's just down right retarded! >_<

Maybe it's to increase the frequency of extended series's? And the extended series idea exists so that a player beating another previously in the same tournament matters?

I dunno if that's a good thing, but perhaps they think it is.
Lord, teach me to be patient.

The two north-american powerhouses had some disappointing results.

The SC2 marathon was a generous but dangerous idea for TLO. It seems his carpal tunnel syndrome is not completely cured, and playing 24 hours non stop was bound to put a lot of pressure on his wrists and nerves. He's obviously talented, but he has not being in top form for months and months.

Tyler did OK on a very difficult pool, but training for one or two weeks before huge events is not enough now to really perform.

Good showing from Ret and Hayder. Playing in Korea paid off at last. They handled the pressure well, and had some really good results. Overall, it was an OK performance for team liquid, but the structure of the brackets will hide it because they will all play against each other.

EG was disappointing. Of course, Idra had a dominant showing, and he may even win the all thing (i doubt it though).

Machine and InControl had a poor showing, going 2-3 in probably the weakest pool. They didn't look good at all, specially InControl with some cheese at all match ups. He took the right decision leaving SOTG, you can't be a top player and a showman at the same time.

The rest of their roster (Axslav, Strife, Demuslim) lost pretty soon.

The small SixJax gaming was pretty impressive on the other hand. Vibe and Major showed real potential.

It's not about making it easy to understand for spectators who doesn't want to think more than 2 minutes.

It's about finding the truly best player of the tournament.

This will be interesting. Things panned out about how they "should" except for the surprise of Haypro finishing 2nd in his bracket.

In all fairness Strifeco took out Demuslim in a team-kill very early.

People were complaining about the format earlier, so I thought I put in my own two cents.

Seems like the format is structured where two players who met in Pool play before are very likely to meet. A, B, C, D refers to the specific group the players were from in Pool play.

B A B A
C D C D
D C D C
A B A B

Would like to see them change it up such that there is a very unlikely chance of players rematching each other in the championship bracket until they've "ran the gauntlet" so to speak. Something like this:

A B C D
D A B C
C D A B
B C D A

Hope you get what I mean... it would have prevented the Liquid guys from all being in the same bracket.

I don't think there have been many upsets as of yet. I mean Incontrol/slav/strife/machine/tlo(i hate adding him in this T_T) aren't really the top of the pack and are just average SC2 pros. Tyler is a little ahead of them but he's slumping a little, I've only seen Demuslim stand out in the earlier/smaller tournaments so no surprise there. I mean the Ret and Haypro thing surprised me because I'd have listed them less than average.

Thankfully, I like surprises.

It would also be a worse tournament.

All they need to change is how hard it is to drop out of pool play for the next season. Everything else is near perfect.

And he did ge decently far, I believe one round before Championship bracket.
And wasn't Axslav in the CB? Losing to Cruncher there?
I am dissapointed about DeMu though, huge fan and I hoped he would do better.
It appears I have been chosen.

Wouldn't mind seeing Naniwa take MLG again, he's always so consistently badass I can't help but like his play.
