We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum.
Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service.
Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out. -- updated 7:55 KST |

No... it's just less fun to see an entire series pass in under 15 minutes.

Just look at TL, it went from a tiny community where everyone knew everyone else to a destination on the internet. The west got into SC2 because of western players and tournaments. the West got into SC2 because it's the sequel to SC1 The western scene exploded because western players finally had a chance in competition. When that changes the scene will die.
The foreign scene will never get better if they don't get to play the best.
So you would rather the foreign skill level stay the same than rise higher above by playing Koreans

They aren't "random Koreans" either. So stupid.... Don't reply to these comments.. people watch games for different reasons. I do because I love starcraft, which means I'll be happy to watch koreans at the top if they are truly the best. Other people watch for the hype, and they feel more excited when their homies play. I understand the feelings of many people, although I feel that shouldn't make them miss quality starcraft games. There is no shortage of quality games, what makes MLG and other tournaments special to me is cheering for personalities I know. Just having random amazing players, that don't speak the language, that are not involved in the western scene (don't stream, don't go on shows, don't contribute) I just don't care about their results. A korean wins, which one? I certainly don't care, in fact, koreans will take home all the big money, because they are top 3. bitter foreigner much? you're a fucking racist. More like a bronze leaguer that loves watching reality shows and doesn't care much about the game itself.

Yup, and the US and EU scene will die, and Starcraft 2 will become a tiny niche just like Starcraft 1. I don't want to see that happen, but it will if western tournaments keep inviting Koreans to dominate and take all the money.

Guess I wasn't the only one that doesn't care about the results of a bunch of random koreans. I wouldn't necessarily say that it's the direct results of having only Koreans left. There was so much backstory behind IdrA/MC that it grasped everyone's attention. Losira and MMA just doesn't have that animosity between them, or else it would be a lot different. But having no foreigners remaining definitely won't help the cause. Even before the Idra match, during the Naniwa of earlier matches. This thread was moving much much faster. I know for me personally the level of interest just dropped off, it honestly makes me no difference at all who wins now, because these players mean nothing to me. Ok so go away and stop posting your anti-korean player crap. If you can't appreciate good play and just want to base your viewership off of popularity go follow real celebrities. Yay go MMA ^_^ such a baller nerd Agreed, true fans of the game can appreciate the amazing skill level of these finals. And I still love cheering against Zerg no matter who's playing
Agreed. Man I can't wait til we weed out the "fans" that care more about the color of the player's skin than the quality of their games. The subtle racism that has been prevalent against the Korean pros is really shameful.
Can't wait til you closet bigots move on to a different game and leave real fans to unite and celebrate SC2... where the universal language is not Swedish, English, or Korean, but Starcraft.

No. TOP 3 WILL GOT A CODE A SPOT, UNLESS THEY'RE ALREADY IN CODE A (or S) This has nothing to do with nationality. koreans dont get code a spotwhy the fuck do people keep coming with false info yes they do Unless they're in code A or S already. edit : I'm wrong, Colombus has a special rule. edit : in fact i'm wrong again, it's the normal code A rule.

Beginning at MLG Columbus and continuing throughout the 2011 Season, Major League Gaming and the GOMTV Global StarCraft 2 League are establishing a League Exchange Program that will send the best MLG players to compete in the GSL, and allow top Korean talent to play live in the US. Pro Circuit Players Competing in the GSL - At MLG Columbus, the Top 3 non-Korean finishers will each be placed into GSL Code A. - At every 2011 Pro Circuit Live Competition after MLG Columbus, GSL placement will occur as follows: - Code S status will be awarded to the highest placing player, regardless of country of origin, who does not already have Code S status. - Code A status will be awarded to the next three highest placing non-Korean players. - If Code S status is awarded to a Korean player, Code A status also will be awarded to the 4th highest placing non-Korean player. - All travel and accomodation expenses for these players will be provided by the GSL. GSL Pro Players Competing on the MLG Pro Circuit - MLG will invite four Korean pro players to each Pro Circuit Live Competition. - These players will be placed directly into the Championship Pools, one into each Pool. - Their placement in the Pools will be determined by their GSL rank. - All travel and accomodation expenses for these players will be provided by MLG. - For MLG Columbus, we will also be inviting a player from the CSN tournament, currently in progress. This player will be seeded into the Open Bracket, and their travel and accomodation expenses will be covered by CSN. This historic partnership marks the first time the GSL has ever qualified a player directly into Code S based on results from another tournament, and MLG Columbus will be the first time Korean players have ever competed live in an open-registration StarCraft 2 tournament in the US. We are working closely with the GSL to coordinate schedules so that all players involved will be able to compete in both the GSL and the Pro Circuit. Am I the only one thinking this is the end of foreigners?

Why do people only stay around for foreigners then leave when there's none left? Do people not value good games at all? Koreans are awesome and they offer high level play which is what it's all about.

If NA thinks they deserve the prize pool all to themselves, then too bad. You will be surprised at the amount of viewerships these Koreans bring to the floor. The whole freaking world is moving, the money is moving around the whole world.
IGN league is like my lowest priority, you should know why......
Yep. I wouldn't be watching now if not for the Koreans playing.
It's good to see hard work pay off. If foreigner players want to compete with Koreans, then they should put in the work. If not, they can gtfo of the scene as far as I'm concerned.

I really hope MMA wins though, I want him in code S! (winner gets it regardless of where hes from) i can't believe this NO the winner does NOT get code S. If a mod could add that to top it would eliminate a lot of confusion. Also the Koreans I believe are not eligable for the spot but that one im less sure of. Koreans aren't eligible for the CODE A spots. However, the CODE S spots are fair game for the winner. True but not for MLG Columbus.
The Code S invite isn't untill the next MLG event.
