| We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum. Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service. Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out. -- updated 7:55 KST | ||

So much so, that I have enough faith to already buy tickets to the next 2 events. Even an act of god didn't stop them. Now for the bombshell. I don't like the fact that Koreans have come through and taken *all* (top 3) the money. Yes, they provided the "best" play, and are incredibly solid/strong/gosu, however to have "The greater race" fly in for 3 days, walk away with $12,000, and leave isn't good for the foreigner scene. As is obvious, we have a pretty amazing audience now-days, but I don't believe we're giving the best foreigners the best chance at making this game viable. And if the best can't win an event like this, what is left for those at the brink of deciding whether or not they're going to dedicate their time/money/life to gaming, or to a 9-5 job. Just like I buy the items with the "Made in Australia" tag over those made in China, I feel we should support the NA scene more than we did at MLG Columbus. Either that, or make it equally viable for foreigners to go to Korea, as it is for Korea to come to NA (3 days for $5k, opposed to 1 month for $1500 in code A) Sincearly, Concerned fan. QUOTED FOR TRUTH! This should be on the front page of TL. If Koreans come into the western tournaments and take all the money then the western scene is dead. Players like Naniwa and Thorzain could not afford to attend these tournaments if they had not won previous ones. In the future those types of players simply won't show up, because it will be a given that the Koreans will win. Terrible argument. This could also provide an incentive for foreigners to improve, thus improving and flourishing the scene. But with mentalities like yours, yea foreign scene might die.

I found it kinda funny how he talks about growing the NA scene and you talk about 2 europeans. How far is it okay to fly to steal your money? And since he quoted the first prize, $5k, why didn't he mention the other first prize, Code S? He talks about growing the foreigner scene, not the NA scene.

#21287 Code A Winner will automatically advance to Code S without going through Up & Down Match - MLG Winner will receive a GSL Code S seed for the following month. (Even if the winner is a Korean player, the seed will be provided). If the winner turns down the Code S seed or is already a Code S player then the runner-up will be given the seed. winner of MLG will get code S for next gsl. since losira and MC already have it, it's prolly going to go to MMA

Now that all the non-Koreans are gone it should be possible, right? Mainly want to know if anyone lost their status and who the 'new' top-16 players are? These are NOT the rankings, but going down the list the Top 16 would be: Idra Naniwa Slush Ret Fenix Haypro Thorzain Sjow Machine Major Sheth Cruncher Tyler Select KawaiiRice And someone would have to play for the last spot. This is assuming none of the Koreans including July keep their spot. It takes into account the results for last time, though, so Drewbie and especially Incontrol may still be in the top 16 for the next MLG, though with much lower seeds (drewbie could very well lose his spot entirely)

I don't think he's the type to go back to the major leagues and would rather stay in the minors and dominate the lower talent. Idra already said he won't go to Korea, not for code A nor code S. In Korea you basically only play the GSL while there's a lot more oppurtunities in the US and Europe Yea i wouldn't want to play in the NFL and play for $50,000 when i can dominate the CFL and win the $250 prize pools. The only prize pools worth anything in the US are the MLG overall championship and blizzcon and the koreans will come to win those. Thats the problem with the north american players, they want to settle for lesser leagues because becoming the best takes too much work. I think idra doesnt want to go back to korea because he got run out the first time because of his attitude is my guess. He didn't get run out -.-.. He said the scene is easier to succeed here instead of playing in one hard tournament. Between NASL, IEM, Dreamhack, and MLG, the prize pool for foreign events is bigger than that of the GSL. Korea has their own smaller tournaments, I realize, but I believe the two scenes are pretty equal in terms of prize pool, and the foreign scene is much easier. It makes a lot more sense to stay in the US, where you were _born_, than to live in a foreign country where you'll probably end up making less money. Foreigners can say goodbye to easy money. If koreans start invading western lans foreigners are gonna be bankrupt soon. or learn to be better gamer... Won't happen, if Koreans start coming to major western tournaments then western e-sports will die. They will just dominate everything, the scene will get stagnant and boring, and that will be it. I am really having trouble seeing how you came to this conclusion. Korean's aren't better in SC2 because of their genetics. They train harder. There is no reason why Korean players deserve to win any less than westerners. If anything, I'd think it would make the western e-sports scene stronger as people train and compete harder, making the game evolve more quickly as a whole. Also, blocking tournaments to players because of their race / nationality is pretty much unacceptable.

#21296 I didn't always know this, but it is true. Tastosis take a more professional adult aproach which I have come to appreciate. Dsy9 is a little too over-excited, like creating excitemennt at a tweens birthday party. Toning down the "CHEER FOR XXXX" stuff is necessary. IMO

Yeah MMA gets it anyway. Another thing I spotted is If Code S status is awarded to a Korean player, or not awarded at all, Code A status also will be awarded to the 4th highest placing non-Korean player. So then who gets it, Naniwa, Slush, Moon, ? because IdrA woul sayno. Not true for columbus, it's been posted a zillion times here already
