right you are, on Monday the brackets will come up but just to be clear you do not have to play in the online qualifiers

What if a player did not qualify on the online game, can he join the offline one?
Watching the offline preliminaries is fine and free, you're welcome to come :> As for not qualifying and playing, there will probably be no shows and people may be seeded into the offline tournament, priority will be given to those who got the farthest in the open brackets.
Also...anyone want to have a double elimination format instead? Of course it's still up to Chromate, but I'm wondering what is everyone's opinion on this.

Alright guys, small change in plans, we are happy with the number of master league players that have expressed interest and signed up for the tournament. We will be changing the format so that the online tournament will mainly consist of the platinum league players (and lower) that submitted their name. If you are a master league player as well as a few (top ranked) diamond players, you will be playing your matches at the offline LAN on the 11th/12th. There will be a small portion of online play but as stated above, it will mainly be for the platinum and lower level players to compete for the open slots. We will be sending an email/PM'ing to all players who must play in the online qualifier and it will take place on Thursday and Friday.

So those that didn't receive an email should be heading straight to the offline qualifier?
If there is still room for a masters player, I'd be definitely down. Internet has been down all week so I totally missed the signup. I'm in TO too so I wouldn't have any problem making it.

I'm GM, and I didn't get an email, so I assume I'm playing at the lan? I've pmed you earlier Chromate when I registered (Sieg.520).
Oh and for *sakes stop placing me with Iefnaij and Ddoro every first round of a tourney (the favorites), it's happened 3 times in a row and those are about the only people that can beat me.

Correct, if you have not received an email or PM you will be playing at the lan; as for the brackets I'll do my best :>

and as for when you have to come in for the lan, I'll send out an email latter today with more information. if you have a preference between saturday and sunday, you'll have a choice.

is there anyway you can post the times and info for the lan a bit earlier? it make a huge difference when booking a day off work rather then just guessing saturday or sunday. tbh hopefully its sunday but we'll see.

Hey um... the banner at the front shows that only 1st/2nd/3rd get a prize. Wouldn't it make more sense for there to be a prize distribution for 1st to 8th? Since 2 people from each bracket advance to the quarter finals? (it says top 2 from each bracket advance)..
Then between that and the GSL finals, quarter finals are played? Since only semi-finals are played live as a pre-show?
It just esems kinda weird... that you could not even drop a game all day, on ur way to top 2 of ur bracket, then you show up for ANOTHER LAN (and I live really far from downtown toronto too), and you have a chance to not win anything?
Please clarify...
Either makes sense: 1) Just play to the last person standing on each of the 4 times, so there won't be a "gap" between the top 8 and top 4 (since it's not mentioend where/when the RO8 matches are being played), and award the winner of each bracket a set amount already for their time and effort 2) Play till the farthest 2 players in each bracket are left standing, then those 2 players play online to determine who gets into the final 4. But anyone who gets to the final 4 still gets a prize.
I'm just not attracted to the idea of going to a LAN, having the possibility of not dropping a game, and still not getting a prize. Reconsider please?
Alright, so there are a number of you who want to switch times and I'll do my best, I'm also seeing about doing double elimination for the LAN. If there are concerns about a double elimination bracket please pm me and let me know, I'd love to have some input on it from the players :>

As per my last tournament the top 8 will all get a prize (probably 30$ or so) however the top 3 is where most of the money will go, sorry about not communicating that. Also all of the top 8 will be playing on the 18th as a pershow to the gsl. I'll send you a pm and we can talk things through.

Double elimination would be nice. A second chance to get into top 8 if you lost the first time :\ though it would extend the tournament by who knows how long.

There won't be streams going today...seems the upload limit is low at infinity due to people torrenting so they had it capped...also it's causing instability to the players games

This is hiPotion from group D. I'm willing to swap with thedoctor cause I actually prefer to be playing earlier. We are both the 16th seed too XD I guess it's up to the tournament organizer to decide if that's OK. If not, that's OK. Dunno if people would like that much swapping around lol.

Just for future lan tournaments I think you should prohibit people from playing from home as that gives them a huge advantage.
-> They don't have to spend time traveling, transit costs or lan costs -> playing from home is a lot easier as you are more comfortable and you produce better results
Other than that, it was a lot of fun and really well organized. Good job Chromate and everyone else who put in the time and effort to run the event.
