I just want to say that DreamHack Invitational was most enjoyable event in SC2 I watched. From my point of view everything was perfect. I literally can't wait for next event from DH production.

P.S.
Please hire that guy who hosted DH for every possible SC2 tournament.

I just wanted to say that MC is a TOTAL BALLER. Going from 0-2 to 3-2 is no small feat, and proxy 2gating in the FINALS of an INTERNATIONAL tournament? I say balls of steels. With 100k SEK on the line, all or nothing, 100k + pride or 0 + embaressment, he just went proxy gates. One might say it's an easy cheesy tactics, but it takes a powerful mind and a predetermined plan to just go for it. Great mind games, great gameplay by both, and showed how PvP can be very very entertaining, in my humble opinion.

So I was watching the VoD for MC vs IdrA, and I noticed something when he gets up after game 1....

DOES MC HAVE A TRAMP STAMP!?!!?!?

Hahahaha on SotG, everyone shot down the idea that entertainment value is even remotely comparable to playing to win, in reference to MC's cheese. Day9, JP, Incontrol, and Tyler.

MC deserved it hands down, no QQ.

Well it's pretty straight forward; play to win - if you don't understand that you have never understood competition.. It's kind of sad about all the uproar; MC doesn't care about you, he cares about winning everything and being the best

I agree Mr. PlasmaBall

I think people hate on cheese because they think it shows that the player lacks the necessary skills to sufficiently win higher skilled matchups. But all I say to that is remember Boxer 3-0'ing Yellow with bunker rushing? :3 And Boxer is a legend no question.

MC vs WhiteRa

I honestly believe that WhiteRa can hang with any of the top players in terms of micro, macro and game sense. What's holding him back is the little things such as how to use sentry effectively, or his pylon placements (aka, the infamous game 5). The series should have ended when MC went for the aggressive 4-gate against a narrow ramp map in game 3. What WhiteRa did wrong was his use of sentry to block off the ramp completely so none of MC's army could enter. What he should've done was use a FF to cut off the zealots from the rest of stalker army with this sentry, and continue to snipe off MC's army one by one with more FFs. I mean, he even had an immortal! Instead, WhiteRa kept on blocking off the entry with a FF, letting MC all the time he needs to amass blink stalkers. A good example of this is MC vs San when San went for the early 4-gate and MC defended it with a composition of sentry + stalker + immortal army.
[/u]
i'm pretty sure, and correct me if i'm wrong, but by the time white.ra cast those FFs you are talking about, MC already had blink. if ra let one zealot in, Mc blinks up and ends the game even quicker. i don't think there was anything ra could have done tactically. build order just lost.

Does MC play to win? Of course.

Were his three wins boring and uninspired? Of course.

If you watch SC2 to see who wins, that doesn't matter. But as a spectator, my goal is to be entertained and the final was anti-climatic after what was an extraordinary tournament. There's winning, and there's winning beautifully. I know which I prefer.

That's your opinion, which is certainly as good as the opinion of those who find his flawless execution and mechanics generally entertaining

I am one of those who finds MCs flawless execution and mechanics amazingly entertaining. Just to add evidence that people like me exist.

Because people really liked it when Hingis did the underhand serves against Seles?

No, people thought it was pathetic.

I think that's the perfect analogy though, except Hingis lost, but whatever.

And when Chang did it vs Lendl, everybody loved him for that (and he won the tourney after that, beating Edberg in the finals). All depends which player you're a fanboy of.

When that much money is on the line, you play to win.
MC played to win. When you are in that situation, do you play for the crowd or for yourself?

Pretty easy choice.

I am as well, and I attributed game five's outcome mostly to White-Ra's lack of scouting, rather than MC being underhanded. MC's strategy was well-calculated and analytical, based on the fact that he rarely cheeses like that and he knows how White-Ra usually opens.

White-Ra blew that game big time.

WhiteRa proved that MC's PvP is not unbeatable offline.

Which means that MC might not win NASL.

But well done to MC for winning Dreamhack; deserved it.

Great tournament. Only disappointment for me was Idras "fuck-this-game-6-pool". As stated by iNc on SOTG and twitter, he basically had him beat a couple of times in game 1 and one mistake cost him the game. And instead of being PUMPED that he can win he gets angry and rage-6-pools.

Also, I used to watch WoW tournaments which 2GD (the host) usually hosted and commented, and boy, have I missed that guy. Hope more tournaments can get him to host, he's so awesome.

Really liked this tournament, great production with the interviews straight after the matches and 2GD does such an amazing job being just the right amount of goofy and funny. Aces!

A couple points:

*MC was not "doubting his ability" in game 5 after coming back from an 0-2 deficit--at least not as much as he would have been doubting it in game 3. I think it's fair to say he had momentum on his side by game 5.

*You play to win.

*Watch TSL3 MC vs WhiteRa and tell me if MC cheese or 4 gates every game.

*Bias: If the series happened exactly the way it did but with the players reversed, all of you haters would be cheering WhiteRa and saying "special taktiks FTW!" and so forth. The MC fans are probably WhiteRa fans too and would be happy for him--take a page from that book and examine your own bias and anger over the results.

*MC actually makes a huge compliment to the Swedish/foreigner fans in his interview after the finals, saying he wishes Korean fans were as excited or enthusiastic as they are. So to all of you butthurt whiners who said "MC just lost a fan," did he get you back yet?

I for one am impressed with how well our foreigner heroes fought with MC bar Idra's 6 pool after showing a lot of strength against MC in game one. That MC isn't looking as dominant right now certainly shows that being the best in the world 8 months after Starcraft 2 comes out is no reason to sit on your laurels or you'll just be surpassed.

MC is one of the only players that DOESN'T always play to win.

If you watched his GSL or world all star matches, he literally does STUPID builds and wins anyway with good micro and decision making. He does shit that shouldn't be able to survive basic 4gates, but other people are so afraid to 4gate him (and lose to micro) that he gets away with it and it is fun to watch.

I think he even went robo + templar + expand all at the same time on crossfire against someone, and wins by pulling the other guys army around the map with blink stalkers until his 2base econ kicks in.

He should be allowed to do anything he wants without complaint after that
