Yeah, I have to agree that on a certain level unless a caster is a better player than myself I can get more out of just *looking* at the game then hearing about it.

Yeah, it should really be at least shown on the front page.

People came in droves to watch the MLG stream over the weekend, and if IGN is able to pull in anything near those numbers the prizepool is destined to be much larger than $5,000. Given IGN's production standards and the amazing players and casters involved we all have some great tournaments to look forward to.

Meh underwhelming prize pool and player list, why do all the tournaments in NA insist of being invitationals? what is this a popularity contest where you invite your friends, the 2 main guys are from root and what a suprise 4 root players, also 4 EG players , could have had a bit more team diversity IMO. I look forward to future seasons where top players have a chance to qualify, but the first season is pretty underwhelming, and it doesnt really make sense to make the first season like this and see how it does and add more money from there, you should start the first season with a bang (take a slight risk in investment) and try and attract as many viewers as possible and go fromm there bigger risk = bigger rewards IGN seems to be playing it super safe, but i could go either way on watching 90% of these players play so probably count me out for the first season for most of the games.

The future tournaments will have open tournaments to determine 16 spots. This is just the first tournament for them to test stuff.

The first tournament is only 16 players though, so does that mean that all those players have an automatic seat in season 2? i read somewhere it will be a 32 player tournament in season 2.

I am interested in knowing why too. Why is there no mention at all of IPL on the main IGN website ? No mention on the IGN twitter either. I guess IGN prefer to wait a little bit and see if everything is fine then make an announcement on the main site ?

No only the top 4 players from the first tournament have a spot in the second tournament. Then the rest of the 28 have to qualify, then the top 16 from that tournament remain for the third.

Please read the bloody FAQ before asking a question that's already been answered.

Like the other guy said this is all spelled out in the Q/A part.

season 2 will be top 4 + 28 qualifiers, season 3+ will be top 16 + 16 qualifiers

I'm looking at the player profiles and I don't think it's really a good idea to use SC2ranks as any sort of measure. World: #1495 (Region: #578) for Kiwikaki makes him look like some random noob.

Looking at the production value we have tasted so far I think this is the first league that will actually be able to deliver a product (besides GOM) where I would not be ashamed to tell my friends to come over, have some brews and watch some Starcraft. GOM is at 2am my time and i have a solid group of 4-6 people (4 of which don't even play SC) who stay up to watch it. I am really excited for what this league could do for the mainstream west!

Pretty big disappointment that with such a big company running a tourny that they got these casters :s (except wheat ofcourse). I don't see why tourneys think that having a very good analytical will send people who are new away from the tourny, from my experience that's what got a lot of my friends into sc2. Keeping it at a low level really doesn't appeal to anyone who takes the game seriously imo.
