compLexity Gaming is proud to announce WEEK 8 of its biggest initiative in the StarCraft 2 community, The V! The best test of skill in SC2 is of course the 1 v 1, and we're going to showcase it every week with a best of 7 series between two invited players. The winner will receive $100, and the loser will just have to hang his head in shame as he types "gg." Whoever wins The V will be expected to play the very next week at the same time!
Here are the details for Week 8:
This week we have two previous V winners in a sort of battle of the champions! Dignitas SjoW won Week 6 and was unable to play Week 7 due to his participation at the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship. In his absence, compLexity's own CrunCher defeated LG.PainUser for the chance to play SjoW in Week 8!
Cast by AskJoshy and potentially a compLexity Staff or Player co-caster. Stream can be seen on the front page of compLexityGaming.com
Format: Best of 7 series, map pool is as follows:
Game 1: Xel'Naga Caverns
Game 2: Shattered Temple
Game 3: Crossfire SE
Game 4: Metalopolis
Game 5: Typhon Peaks
Game 6: Backwater Gulch
Game 7: Terminus RE
In the event of a disconnect, the game replay will be reviewed by a player panel to determine if a re-game is necessary. If one player disconnects three times in a single night, he will forfeit the series and the non-disconnecting player will be asked back to the next V.
Prizes: The winner of the best of 7 series will receive $100 via Paypal and be invited to play again the following week. The loser will receive nothing. Every week we have a different giveaway for our viewers, so be sure to tune in for instructions on how to win! This week's giveaway is a SoundBlaster Tactic Sigma headset. This is a very high-quality headset, the newest and best headset that SoundBlaster makes! Don't miss this giveaway opportunity! =D
So come join us for the seventh ever edition of "The V" and see whether SjoW or CrunCher will become the undisputed champion of The V! Please feel free to vote in the poll and leave a comment with your series score prediction!

Not only that, but CrunCher managed to qualify for the TSL while Sjow didn't. CrunCher may be relatively unknown compared to Sjow, but he's looking like a new force on the scene.
I called Cruncher last time early and I'm going to say he's going to do it again. Cruncher knows how to punish terran early and ride the advantage he gets.

Cruncher sucks so bad lol. Hate players like him. Cheesing once in a while is fine, but he have done it every fking game I've seen him play. I mean soon enough players are gonna catch on to it and he'll have nothing left. He sucks too bad to play straight up macro games.

He beat Fenix 3-0 to qualify for TSL with at least two long macro games, one of them where he got a mothership lol. So it seems you just don't follow enough games :p

Could be it, just assumed he was a cheeser since I saw idra play him on his stream and he said he always does it, and I've only seen him do 4-gate or other similar stuff. Well, if he plays legit sometimes I guess it's fine

ya very baseless comment there... check his stream he ladders on EU alot and ive seen him beat kas, morrow, goody, and few others with legit macro games... i'll certainly agree and say he has cheesy tendencies but never hurts to have those in his arsenal... especially when hes certainly capable of a macro game, can have you confusing your metagame if trying to play him, as unsure if he's gonna proxy stargate, 1 stalker 2 zealot probe pull allin, or actually macro game ^^

His pvt is good. I feel his pvz isn't anywhere as good as his pvt though from playing him myself and watching some of his pvz games ^^.

The last thing that is dependable is Idra's opinion on what a good player is. Crucher is a very cheesy player but he can play macro too.

SjoW is by no means the best TvP foreigner. I like and respect SjoW but that statement is absurd.

Well, I've seen him a few times and he's always done similar tactics like game1/game2 and 4-gates etc. But I do agree, being unpredictable is a good thing I just figured he did it all the time which kind of sucks. If he can play legit macro games aswell props to him I guess.
1. SjoW is not even the best TvP in europe. 2. Cruncher plays such an allinish crapstyle, that SjoW doesnt even know what build to use. he went for 1 base with bunkers cause he was afraid of some funky move... cruncher just plays confusion - basically thats all of crunchers skill i saw today^^ €: 3. dont call cruncher solid. cheese is not solid.
I dont understand how cruncher is winning these games... he has never even came close to beating me on ladder... yet he can somehow out match players who have invested 1000x more time into this game... i dont understand.

Cruncher is a good macro player. Did you watch the games he played in the TSL qualifier he won? He replenishes his units really well and to me and I have never seen him slip up thus I will call him solid.

styles, shape on the particular day etc..
i am a more deffensive player... but this is just absurd.... painuser and sjow are much better then me... so i am just ;0 idk what sjow was thinking on xel naga.... 1rax expand into fast medis with 2 rax.... =/
very entertaining games. Cheese can definitely be a good snack for after-dinner. just keep a probe in your base next, just in case... : ). thanks for bringing the V to us.

Perhaps you need to have the pressure of 1000+ people watching you play live. :D

Not to mention not killing the obs for 5 min in the last game, the drop after his emtpy base was scouted, not retreating with his small marauder only force when a warp in point is nearby, missrallyed units... Game before was even worse.

On a stream? I doubt that would pressure him at all. I don't see any pressure when streaming maybe if he was casting sure but playing nah I bet he forgets he's even streaming sometimes because he's so focused on his game.

Beating someone on ladder is different than beating them in a tournament, especially in a Bo7.

+ I doubt he played him / won against him because he seems to have no idea about difference between a real series and a ladder game

No, he said they casted the tourney earlier so that SjoW didn't have to stay up until three in the morning.
All-in-all it seems like SjoW's in a slumo, atm. He hasn't been doing so well since his IEM EU masters.
Pretty disappointng series all in all, just didn't feel like Sjow played particularly great at any point in time and Cruncher's not the greatest watch in the world. I wonder when Terrans will get a handle on the TvP match up again, they really seem to be struggling recently.
Wow. Like, I understand cruncher wants to win whatever, but if he keeps doing all in's in 75% of his games I'm just going to stop watching the V. This just isn't fun to watch
On March 12 2011 08:30 Zorgaz wrote: That was a disgusting last match =/
why?
Because SjoW could have won it easily but played very poorly... I have to say it was a sloppy series overall. Not one of the better Vs, but still, well played by CrunCher.
its so difficult to play on such delay, I dont know what I was thinking going micro intensive builds with such delay, should have just play defensive and pure macro. Cruncher played better so well deserved victory.
And I've been on a slump lately but its over I'm only struggling vs zerg alittle now. I will practice hard for MLG dallas trying to have my former success.

Nice to see a lot of honesty from you, Jonathan. I don't want to sound like a guy that has more knowledge of the game than you, but you have to do something about your scouting a bit, with that, I think that you'll triumph in the face of danger a few more times!
Lycka till med MLG, du kan utan tvekan konkurrera med NA-lirarna. Visa att talangen är lika stor som plånboken.

I am confident you will succeed in getting back in top shape.
Btw very interesting that you will go to MLG. If I am no mistaken you are not one of top 16. I really hope you can do it there against all odds.

funny that you call him jonathan :D made me lol. didn't see the games but might check them out!
Great series by both players, thanks again to the players and to everyone who came to watch at this earlier time. Next week we'll find a lovely Zerg for CrunCher to play with, and we'll be back at our normal time of 7 p.m. EST!
seems like sjow is not a good enough player with the lack of scouting. Since when do we see games winned by 3 fast dts?? Not in high tournies we don't. With the lack of scouting, I can not see sjow doing good in the future.
Sjow played pretty badly. Cruncher is definitely a player he can beat, but making fundamentally bad mistakes like letting rallied units stream to their death for fifteen seconds before changing the rally should be inexcusable for Sjow. Well played Cruncher, I couldn't have imagined him beating Sjow and Painuser. I'm glad he proved me wrong.
