the fucking internet at that lan died, how did bnet ruin anything there?

Waaaaaaaaaaat????????

If we had LAN we wouldn't have this problem

still, it's not blizzards fault the dudes organizing that lan can't get their internet right.

looking at an event as a whole a dying stream alone is enough to "ruin" it

We've been over this a million times already. Its the lack of LAN everyone's basically complaining at.

This game alone proves that you should always scout.

it just proves that not scouting has both upside and downside. you saw the downside. any strategy has downsides and when it faces that and loses that doesn't make the whole strategy useless. it's about what you expect, how often you expect it, how much advantage it can give you in games it doesn't happen. don't try to make everything so simplistic.

There is no upside when you're playing against someone alot worse than you. You're gonna win 95% of the time, and the 100 minerals you lose dont really matter as much as they would vs a really good player, if that makes sense

Seriously, imagine how cheesy koreans are. If SjoW wants to have any chance in korea he has to scout earlier.

Unless you're playing vs someone alot better than you, and you have a really tight BO, it's always beneficial to scout

I fully agree. That's not what you said at first at all.

Well ok, you should always scout EXCEPT if:

- You're cheesing.

- Your opponent is ALOT better than you and you have no chance to win except if you play your percect game.

Which means SjoW should scout like 98% of the time

Sjow has shown in the past that even without scouting he has some really tight and solid buildorders.

I don't remember what it was but recently he got proxy 2 raxed and managed to fight it off with ease..

I think he even said that he might start scouting when he goes to korea

It's also worth adding that he almost held it, probably if he practiced that for an afternoon he could hold that cheese not scouting it until he walked into his door. Even different sim-city could have helped and might have even had a shot a draw with slightly better decision making. I don't necessarily agree with Sjow not scouting, but I don't think that game proved anything and players who are constantly greedy are the ones who do the best in the long-run.

This plus Sjow doesn't always not scout, it's pretty clear that scouting is just part of each individual build he is doing, not a general rule. When he played against me in the TLOpen he scouted, it's almost as if he plans his build down to scout times :O

I think he has started to scout more, but he just carries the stigma from before.

You really don't need to scout all the time, you just need to scout enough so that people expect you might and don't stick a proxy Gateway in your nat. :x

Benefits of scouting or not I cannot believe Sjow just let him place a pylon there without anything to spot and a walloff that was far too late. He has to have encountered it countless times before.

Practising new strategies that you don't have to show beforehand.

Yes, you can't reveal your "special tactics" before a big tournament :-).

playing at an event and having like 3 bo3s a day isn't what i call good practice, i'm sure he has his practice partners and will use the time to make some nifty new builds and stuff

i don't think that white-ra really needs any additional live-experience either :o

in the end it probably is a thing of personal preference with how you want to prepare for a tournament
