Dreamhack announced a new prize purse of 1.5 Million Swedish krona, which are about 234.000 $. O_O On Friday they're going to announce on which games the money is spend due to a live stream. I hope it's going to be the biggest sc2 event outside korea. The last dreamhack was just superb.

It's a shit ton, but bare in mind that it's for all the games that are played there - like HoN, CS, and all that jazz.
Still a whole lot though.
|
Hahaha nice!! A ton more money into esports. Take that EG's announcement!
|
Sounds impressive indeed. How many tournaments are supposed to be covered with this?
|
Wow that is huge!! I can't wait to see how they distribute that much o.o
|
CS will probably get the most but SC2 might get more $/player.
|
|
|
gogo greykarn i believe you can make this dhs11 tournament the most epic sc2-tournament yet! :D<3
hm, just read through it all and it seems like it's not just for dhs but for the whole year, exciting and an increase none the less
|
1, 4 million viewers from 92 countries followed the action from home. Wow that was a shit-ton of viewers
|
this deserves to be in SC2 general hell community news, this is fucking HUGE!!!!!!!!

Awesome, I'm sure this will attract a lot of talent. Hopefully no more Bo1 groups! =X
|
Over double the purse this year?
That's pretty awesome.
|
I can't see CS getting less than $75,000. SC2 will probably get up to about $35-40,000.
Also, remember this will be the total prize pool over DHS and DHW, so cut my above predictions in half :p

First Official games to be announced live at Inferno Online, Stockholm, February 4th Friday February 4th, DreamHack will participate in the launch party of the first Swedish eSports game ‘Bloodline Champions’ BLC. Well, hang on there, DHW10 had 180k SEK (like 18k EUR or 25k USD) for one SC2 tournament out of 650k SEK overall prize purse, so your theory would actually be cutting the prize money down per tournament while the overall event prize pool would more than double. Estimate this to be a lot bigger. I can already hear the engines of the planes that are full of Koreans in the sky

True, I am quite retarded at 3am. They'll probably be about my estimate actually. I'm very very interested to see what QL and HoN get too.

Wow, awesome to hear. Does anyone know the exact amount of games dreamhack sponers/uses?
|

Sweden, we don't fuck around.
EDIT: By the way I'm invinted to that party. It's open bar.

No. now it makes sense why they were waiting to make there announcement, and gave a vage before february ends statement. They wanted to wait and see what dreamhack says and then just one up them. Well played EG well played.

They have not made the announcement yet, incontrol says that it will be made before the end of this month.

Thats HUGE. Very nice Prize money.

1,5 million SEK, with current currencies: 168,896.47 € 233,021.12 $
Wow, that is a lot of money. I'm glad eSports is getting more and more money, and I'm glad to bring myself to watch these tournaments (and their ads). Perhaps even pay for a selected few
|
I don't think it has anything todo with the announcment which incontrol + x are going to make. Why they should collide? Dreamhack is "just" a tournament of 4-5 days 2 times a year. ^^
|
That's awesome. Hope SC2 gets a nice piece.
|
It's more than double what they had last year.
By simple math if we adjust last years 200 000 SEK for SC2 tournament to the total money increase today it should be a total of 462 000 SEK - that's about $72 000.
I'm so happy I live in Sweden right now :D

I hoping they are making a GOMtv like business in the States. If everyone is moving to Cali, then there is a reason people have to be around one certain location. I hope there is a big production, monthly tournament that is nearby Blizzard HQ.
Just a stab, nothing to base this on other than hopes and dreams.

I'm so happy I live in Sweden right now :D 1.5M is for DHS + DHW by the looks of the announcement. Not sure if prizes are the same for both events but supposing DHS also had 650k, that ended up as 1.3M for 2010, so possibly not as big of an increase as it looks.
Still a very nice price pool obviously though.

-.- Or is it? I think this is just a false flag operation carried out by malicious EG factions to divert us from the true announcement. Open your eyes, sheeple.

Holy shit, that's pretty sick! hopefully SC2 gets a fair share of that money.
|
well it looks like Dreamhack will ones again win the biggest prize award outisde of Korea and that is only a good thing
|
This is fucking awesome :D ill definitly be going there this year.

They didn't announce CS as one of their main games, yet at least. The Swedish CS community is pretty upset lol. SC2 is gaining a lot of ground on CS's expensse. I'm fine with it though, I had my 10 years of CS.
