After two successful tournaments, Team tQ is proud to announce the third tQ Live Tournament #3: Valentine’s Lovers Edition! – Hosted and Sponsored by eSPOT Billiards & Arcade in Richmond, BC.
For our third tournament, please note that we have implemented changes in the map pool and the format of our losers bracket. Steppes of War, Jungle Basin, Scrap Station, Delta Quadrant and Blistering Sands have been removed from our map pool and replaced with the 5 candidate GSL maps (These can be found by searching “GSL” under custom games).
Lastly, to avoid any confusion, the tQ Live events are LAN only events. You must be able to play in person in order to participate.
We chose this February date to coincide with the university Reading Break, so we hope to have an even larger turn out.

Time: 12:00pm - 7:00pm (Doors Open at 11:00am)
Entry Fee:$20 at the door
Prize: First, Second, and Third Place Finishers will receive a cash price. Price amount will vary based upon number of participants
How to Register: If you're interested in participating in our StarCraft II tournament, reply to this thread with your SC2 name & character code or you may register in person at the door on the day of the tournament.
NOTE: We will cap the tournament at 32 participants. If you are registering at the door, please arrive early to ensure a spot in the tournament.

Tournament Format: Double Elimination
Winners Bracket: Best Out Of 3 (Finals: Best Out Of 5)
Losers Bracket: First Half - Best Out Of 1 & Seconf Half - Best Out Of 3
Facilities Include: Food, Arcades and Washrooms
Additional Information:
High-end computers are provided. You may bring your own mouse, keyboard and headset.
Proceeds will be going towards prize pool and venue.

Why make a limit on how many can enter?? Should try to do something like a group stage format earlier rounds so that everyone gets at least x number of games in for the tournament. For example, groups of 5 ppl and top 2 advance ~ Instead of just a double elimination where you may play 2 ppl at the most..

Well, the main reason for the player limit is because we only have access to 35 or so computers at the venue. The reason why we have went with the double elimination format is because we have been allocated a time frame to complete the entire tournament. Furthermore, considering how despiting having over 32 sign ups on the forums in the past, we have never had a full 32-man tournament on the day of the event.
With all things considered and 2 previous events held, this set up has shown to be rather smooth in execution. And until I can obtain a sponsor or some kind of further endorsing for the event, keeping it small and manageable should suffice for now. But as it this is to contribute to the Lower Mainland eSports community, I'm open to any ideas to help make our event better. Thanks.

Alright I will be catching the 9 o'clock ferry this time so I will probably be there right at 12. If I am a few minutes late I will be there so I hope I don't lose my spot by 15 minutes.
A friend is coming with me. He loves SC and SC2 and is not going to play but just wants to hang out, meet people, watch games, and have a good time! I hope that wont be a problem: he's not there to be my obs :S

Congrats to the winners- Stalife, bLuR and Saikou for an outstanding performance. After 9 grueling hours of sc gaming, they all managed to climb their way to the top surpassing 33 players in their insatiable hunger to win the tournament.
We also want to thank everyone that showed up to play and watch the games. And a herculean thanks to tQZander and tQAtticus for casting and streaming all the games, without their help this tournament would not have gone as smoothly and organized as it did. And a big thanks to Thundertoss as well, glad to have you on board.
