Posted by Aura.638 on 01/02/2011. We are having technical difficulties with Challonge, our bracket hosting website. Sorry for the inconvenience everybody. Our future tournament will be hosted by a new tournament website/community. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. The New Year's Heat Open is canceled. we will continue on hosting new tournaments after we open our partnership with this new site and they have a stable host that won't crash... sorry about this problem it will all be good in the future. more tournaments to come.

Sun, Jan 2, 2011 at 2:48 PM Hello, As you've probably noticed, challonge.com is having some performance issues right now. We normally limit tournaments to 256 participants, but I now realize the sign-up page does not enforce that limit. At the moment, the server is caught up, so as long as users ease up on reloading the bracket page, things will run smoothly. Terribly sorry for the trouble, Dave With this tournament having over 500 participants, it hammered some unoptimized parts of our code base that resulted in poor performance. Also, with tons of people checking that page, the problem was compounded. Our sign-up page now enforces the 256 participant limit, but we'll increase that once we know the load can be handled reliably. I apologize for the inconvenience to everyone and completely respect your decision to bail on us at this point. This is the first time I'm aware of that we were caught unprepared for load, and I was especially disappointed since it was for a game I love. Should you want to give us another shot in the future, we'll be happy to have you guys back. -Dave
